BASKETBALL PROGRAM
Hello Salem Olympic and Junior Olympic athletes, families and caregivers … it’s time for winter
registration for athletes. Please see the second page of this memo; listed is the Recreation
Department’s Winter Basketball program information which includes the dates, times, location
and fees.
Individuals enrolling in our programs are required to pay the registration fee at the time of
enrollment. Providing we have all the necessary papers and forms for your athlete, registration
may be completed by mail OR in person at the Recreation Department. Our office hours are
Mondays thru Friday’s from 8:30am to 1:30pm or by appointment after 1:30pm. *Please look
on the calendar for “office closed dates”.
 Recreation Dept. office will be closed from Monday, December 22 thru January 1, 2015.
Please note the following:
1.
When you register your athlete, their 2014-2015 packet forms must be completed and
returned to us.
2.
Athlete’s medical and consent forms must be up-to-date. (These two forms are
required by NH Special Olympics every three years).
3.
When an athlete is registering for an upcoming program and their medical and
consent forms are going to be expiring during the program, the athlete must have
an appointment scheduled with his/her physician prior to registering in a program.
4.
Athletes must register at least two (2) days prior to the first practice date they attend.
If a program begins on a Thursday, registration is required by Tuesday before the practice.
(i.e. to begin on January 8, your athlete must register by January 6). The monthly calendars will
be posted on the website at www.salemolympicdevils.com.
Some other reminders:
 Athletes must practice in a minimum of 8 practices to compete in the State
Tournaments. If your athlete does not attend the minimum number of practices,
they will be unable to participate in the State Games.


The program registration fees remain low due to Salem Area Special Needs and the
money they raise through the various fundraising opportunities. We are always looking
for help with fundraising. Please contact the Recreation Department to help out.
