ABOUT THE COLLEGE Jagdish Chandra D.A.V. College Dasuya was once the auspicious dream of Arya Samaj, Dasuya. The college was established in 1971 when Pt. Jagdish Chandra Sharma contributed his might and material for the establishment of this great seat of learning. After merging in the D.A.V. Ocean in 1974, the college has been enunciating the gospels of Swami Dayanand and has been imparting the code of discipline and morality to the students. Now, it stands at the apex by the virtue of its being the largest Arts, Science, Commerce and Computer Education College in the region. The College is accredited with 'A' grade by NAAC. It is a place where one can learn, interact, grow and discover; where excellence, creativity and innovation form the bottom line; where merit is honored and commitment is rewarded. Apart from regular B.A., B.Sc. and B. Com. Classes, the college also runs B.Sc. in Bio-Technology and Computer Science, B.C.A., M.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Zoology and Information Technology, and M.A. in History, Punjabi and English and PGDCA. Every year, many students are placed in University Merit Lists. The brilliant performance of students in extra-mural activities and scintillating performances in sports have given the college a glorious and illustrious identity of its own. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Physics was started in the year 1971 with undergraduate courses and upgraded to post graduate department in 2004. It is one of the most popular physics department among other institutes across the state. The department has five well equipped physics laboratories and one air-conditioned computer laboratory. The Department has ultra modern facilities, multimedia projectors and high speed internet. Along with teaching, the faculty members are engaged in research and various activities. Research in our department is organized within the general areas of Nuclear Physics, High Energy Physics and Condensed Matter Physics. Two research projects have been already completed and three major research projects funded by different agencies (DST, UGC, IUAC) are in progress. ABOUT THE ECPNS-2015 The National Conference on Emerging Challenges in Physics & Nano Science is a unique opportunity for the researchers in physics and nano science to come together and formulate a plan for tackling some of the large problems facing the nation. The conference will provide a platform to the theorists and experimentalists to exchange their new idea and explore emerging directions both in basic Physics as well as applied aspects of various areas of Physics and Nano Science. The themes to be discussed in the conference include Nuclear and Radiation Physics, High Energy Physics, Non-Linear Dynamics, Mathematical Methods in Physics, applications of material science and Nano Science & Nano Technology. The main objective of the conference is to assist and encourage teachers, students and researchers in the field to engage in relevant basic and applied physics research works through productive alliance and collaboration with other scientific institutions; thus help uplift the country's economic development. It will provide a dynamic medium for exchange of ideas and experiences and the members can be updated on the current state of research. Further, the event will provide an opportunity to teachers and post-graduate students of the institute and nearby institutes to interact with scientists and get inspiration to join research in the emerging and innovative areas of physics. Conference will consist of invited lectures by eminent experts, Oral/Poster presentations in the fields related to the title of the conference.
