KUWAIT CITY, Dec 27:
Kalyan Jewellers marked
their entry into the Kuwaiti
market with an official inauguration ceremony, held at
the Jumeirah Beach Hotel,
Friday evening. The invite
only event featured its brand
ambassadors
Amitabh
Bachchan, Prabhu Ganesan,
Akkineni Nagarjuna, and
Manju Warrier in the presence of TS Kalyanaraman,
CMD — Kalyan Jewellers
and Executive Directors
Rajesh Kalyanaraman and
Ramesh Kalyanaraman with
a stellar performance by
Indian Violinist Balabhaskar
Chandran.
The evening followed the successful opening of three Kalyan Jewellers
stores in Al Rai, Maliya and Fahaheel
areas with thousands of enthusiastic
fans in attendance earlier in the day.
Its three independent stores sprawling over 5000 sq ft will house a wide
range of exquisite designs and intricate artwork masterfully crafted by
artisans from across the world.
Executive
Director
Rajesh
Kalyanaram shared that Dec 26 will
remain a very memorable day in the
history of Kalyan jewellers as they
crossed their 75 store mark with the
three stores opening in Kuwait. He
shared that while charting the company’s international expansion plans,
Kuwait was undoubtedly amongst the
foremost of their choices. “Year on
year, month on month, the growth and
development that this great country
has accomplished is unbelievable. It
is internationally recognised for its
world leadership. It boasts the highest
currency in the world. We very well
knew that Kuwait deserves the best
and we have inaugurated three huge
independent stores in this great country to serve to the best of our capabilities”, he said.
The Kalyan group derives its origins
from textile retailing and wholesaling
and has an experience of over 100
years in the trade. Kalyan branched out
into the field of Jewellery retailing in

Indian film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna
the year 1993 by opening its first store
in Thrissur, in the southern state of
Kerala, India. “It has been 20 years
since Kalyan entered the jewellery
retail business. Each and every town
we operate has given us treasures of
knowledge and experience. We believe
that all that we have achieved is a result
of our success in satisfying the dreams
and aspirations of our customers.
Today we are entering a new country.
Kuwait has been a gem of the GCC,
this great country has recorded surplus
budget since its inception and is the
only country in the world where the
state guarantees 100% guarantee for all
bank deposits. We should have more
leaders like the Amir of Kuwait HH
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah and his family who have been
the leading light and protectors of
Kuwait”, CMD TS Kalyanaraman
remarked.
He shared that the Kalyanaraman
family has been involved in business
for the past 115 years and continues the
same business ethics of honesty and
transparency that its forefathers
defined. “At times we found it very difficult but we are extremely happy and
proud that in the long run this is what
has given us the confidence and
strength to enter new markets and
attract permanent customers”, he stat-
ed, sharing his confidence that the
launch in Kuwait is a step forward in
the fulfilment of Kalyan Jeweller’s
vision to open more stores and serve
customers in all major cities across
Asia.
Kalyan Jewellers holds that ‘trust is
everything’ and has launched several
campaigns to reiterate its commitment
to fair and ethical business practices
delivering quality, value for money,
transparency and customer service
through innovative means and tools. It
has been a game changer in the jew-
ellery industry by launching education
campaigns for consumers and setting
up a large number of customer service
centres that provide services like jewellery purchase advance schemes, gold
insurance, wedding purchase planning,
advance booking, sales of gift vouchers, gold buying tips and education etc.
It was also the first jewellery brand in
India to have male celebrities as brand
ambassadors, successfully defying
long held conventions in jewellery
marketing.
Bollywood Superstar and internationally acclaimed Actor, Amitabh
Bachchan, thanked Kalyan Jewellers
for the opportunity to come to
Kuwait for the very first time, adding
“The warmth, love and affection of
the people of Kuwait that I saw today
has been so overwhelming that I
have promised that I will be here
again and again.”
“I honour and respect Kalyan
Jewellers for picking brand ambassador from different parts of the country. In many ways I feel that this is a
wonderful integration of not just the
country but what Kalyan jewellers
means. I have always felt very
strongly that cinema in a way is a
great integrator of society. When we
sit inside a darkened hall and watch a
film, we never ask the caste, creed,
the colour or the religion of the person sitting next to us. We laugh at the
same jokes, we sing the same songs,
we cry at the same emotion. In this
fast disintegrating world, where can
you find such a beautiful example of
integration than cinema. This is the
integration that I admire in Kalyan
jewellers for bringing all of us
together in one single platform to
advertise and propagate this wonderful brand.”
Balabhaskar
and
his
band
enthralled the audience with his
compositions and gusty take on
beloved Indian film music. ‘Begin
with Soorya’, an original composition infused with repetitive refrains
quickly displayed Balabhaskar’s
finesse. Next, a medley on ‘Love
theme’ with a piano overture, light
and playful, gave away to familiar
romantic melodies of Indian cinema.
Balabhaskar paid homage to the Film
stars present by playing snippets of
their most well-known hits.
To celebrate its launch, Kalyan
Jewellers announced a special inaugural offer, customers who buy jewellery worth KD 150 will get a free
gold coin and also be eligible to win
the mega prize of KD 75,000 from a
lucky draw.
