But, to Jean, Moundsville was just home. She has wonderful memories of growing up as the baby sister to her brother Jack and sister Dorothy. She said that every Friday evening, the entire town would gather at the city park to sing and watch movies under the stars. Seemingly like a scene from a classic 1940's movie, Jean met the love of her life, Jack Lemon, at a bowling alley the night before he shipped out to join the Navy during WWII.The first moment he saw Jean, he declared to a friend, “That’s the girl I’m going to marry!” During Jack’stime in the Pacific Theater, he wrote beautiful love letters home to his “ Jeannie.” She bundled them with blue silk ribbon. They married in 1947 and had three daughters, Andrea, Susan and Holly. Early in their marriage, Jean and Jack were involved in some interesting business ventures. At Buckeye Lake Amusement Park near Columbus, Ohio they ran a ‘guess your age and weight’ booth and a soft custard stand; then opened Jack ‘N Jean’s 24-hour restaurant.. They moved the family to Louisville in 1964, where Jack worked as an insurance agent and Jean later worked at Stewart’s Department Store and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
