FEASTS OF THE WEEK
BINGO
Sunday 11 January
The Baptism of The Lord – Jesus is
anointed with the spirit and his power.
He is proclaimed Messiah. He now goes
about doing good, working the signs that
make him known as the Servant of God.
He is the one who brings good news to
the poor and tells of salvation. Through
our baptism each one of us is ordered to
the life of Christ- Priest, Prophet and King
– and the Father looks on us with favour.
Tuesday 13 January
St Hilary of Poitiers - Bishop of Poitiers
and distinguished himself by his stand
against Arianism. In exile by order of the
Emperor Constantius, he used his time to
write, including De Trinitate, a study of
the Trinity.
Thursday 15 January
St Ita- born in Co Waterford to noble and
Christian parents. Early on she set her
mind on serving Christ in religious life.
She founded a monastery in Killeedy, Co
Limerick, which attracted a great variety
of young people. She was given the title
‘foster-mother of the saints of Ireland’.
She died in 570.
Friday 16 January
St Fursa - born in Ireland and became
one of the great monastic missionaries
abroad. He went first with his brothers to
live a monastic life in East Anglia. As great
numbers continued to visit him there he
left Foillan as abbot and sought refuge
in France. He died in 650 and is buried in
Peronne, which became a great centre of
devotion to him.
Lord,
make me a better person:
more considerate
towards others,
more honest with myself,
more faithful to you.
Help me to find
my true vocation in life
and grant that through it
I may find happiness myself
and bring happiness
to others.
Grant, Lord,
that those whom you call to
enter the priesthood or
religious life
may have the generosity to
answer your call,
so that those
who need your help
may always find it.
Every Wednesday at 8.30pm
at St Anthony’s Centre.
Almost £1900 paid out in prizes
each week! Everyone Welcome.
Gift Vouchers for Bingo are now
