DESCRIPTION: When Spain claimed the subtropical islands along the Georgia coast as the
Golden Isles of Guale in the 16th century, habitation was not new to the area. Archeological
evidence traces American Indian settlement to about 2500 B.C. Spain ceded the area to Great
Britain in 1763. The area is rich in history and physical beauty. And the four walks we have
scheduled vary greatly in character.
STIPULATIONS: The events are free to non-credit walkers, open to everyone, and take place
regardless of weather conditions. No refunds are provided after the start of the walk.
PRE REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: All walkers must register for a walk
before they walk it. We encourage preregistration (see waiver and registration form). When
you check in you’ll receive an Activity Card showing what you’ve paid for. Please present this
card at each group event if walking with the group. If not preregistered, you may sign up for all
walks on Fri night or Saturday morning at our hotel and receive the Activity Card. After that all,
unregistered walkers will sign up for a walk at the group walk start point ½ hour before that
group walk begins.
