ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY DR.K.ROSAIAH, GOVERNOR OF TAMIL NADU AT THE KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA SANGATHAN CHENNAI REGION AND PRESENTATION OF KVS REGIONAL INCENTIVE AWARD FUNCTION AT MEN’S CLUB CRPF, AVADI, CHENNAI ON 12/1/2015 AT 12.00 NOON It is a pleasure to participate in the 5th Regional Incentive Award Ceremony of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and present Awards to the Principals, teaching and non teaching staff and address this distinguished gathering here today. At the outset I congratulate KVS for shaping the life of many youths. Its service in the field of education, especially its dedication in teaching and equipping the young students to prepare them for the future deserves appreciation. It is heartening to note that Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF, Avadi is one of the pioneer institutions of KVS Chennai region established in the year 1978,known for its dedicated services to the children of CRPF Personnel and there are about 1900 students in 4 sections from class 1 to 12th and 80 staff members taking care of the needs of children under the able guidance of Teachers who have brought the Vidyalaya to greater heights. Mahatma Gandhiji said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." I am told that KVS is a system of Central Government Schools in India that have been established under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource development. It comprises 1099 schools in India and 3 abroad with a total of 11,48,340 students and 6,445 employees. Its mission to cater the educational needs of children of transferrable, Central Government employees including defence and paramilitary personnel by providing a common programme of education; to pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education; to initiate and promote experimentation and innovations in education in collaboration with other bodies like the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) and the National council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT); and to develop a spirit of national integration and create a sense of “Indianess” among children deserves appreciation. The uniform curriculum followed by these schools all over India was intended to ensure that the children of government employees do not face education disadvantages when their parents are transferred, by providing a common syllabus and system of education. I am happy to note that the Regional Incentive Awards were initiated by KVS in 2010 to honour its principles, teaching and non-teaching staff for their dedicated service in the field of education at regional level and a total of 26 awards pertaining to different cadres are being given today. I congratulate all the Awardees on this occasion for their noble service. Tamil Nadu is one of the most literate states in India. Education is one of the most important pillars on which a nation is built. 21st century is the century of knowledge. The knowledge gained or acquired should be utilised for the welfare of the society and humanity. Learning should be 2 purposeful. The academic institutions should prepare the students as leaders of tomorrow to compete globally in various fields. This will pave the way for robust economic growth. We need a vibrant knowledge based society. India is on the threshold of great future. We have to channelize the youth energy in the right direction. It is education that builds in them knowledge, spirit of creativity, confidence and habit of hard work that will bring success in their life. Education is assimilation of knowledge. It is the commitment of students, the quality of education imparted and the dedication of the faculty that will fetch good results. The faculty should keep themselves acquainted with the latest developments. The educational institutions should facilitate its faculty to update their knowledge periodically. A teacher should establish a rapport with the students and become one with them. Enhancing competency in teachers, updating knowledge is imperative An educational institution should possess a very good technology and learning environment with good infrastructure. I am pleased to learn that KVS is one among them. It is the positive attitude, helping mind, nobility in heart and the spirit of charity that alone will bring in happiness. Be men and women of good conduct and character. The Nation, State, Institution and your parents expect a lot from you. Where ever you are carry on with you the rich legacy of our nation. You students should aspire high in life. Convert your dreams to reality. The spirit of hard work, initiative, confidence and the determination to achieve will bring you success. The initiatives taken by the KVS Schools to identify and nurture the innate talents within the students deserves appreciation. I convey my warm felicitations to Thiru S.Elango DIGP, PMG II BAR, GC, CRPF Avadi and Chairman of the VMC, KV CRPF AVADI, Thiru S.M.Saleem, Deputy Commissioner of KVS regional office, Chennai, Assistant Commissioners of KVS regional office Chennai, Thiru B.Ramachandran, Principal, KV CRPF, Avadi, Principals of various KVS, Teachers, Staff, nonteaching staff and students of Kendriya Vidya Sangathan schools and recipients of Awards. I wish that the KVS grow from strength to strength in the years to come. I conclude with the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world” My greetings to you all. Jai Hind. ****
