PAUNG KU VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Paung Ku is a local non‐profit organization, established in 2007 by a consortium of international and local agencies and registered as an independent Myanmar NGO in 2014. Paung Ku’s central goal is a Myanmar with civil society that is able to drive forward positive social change. For Paung Ku, this means pro‐poor, equitable and environmentally sustainable development, peace, social justice and human rights. Paung Ku supports civil society initiatives with grants, mentoring, and facilitating access to technical support and other stakeholders. Through its six regional teams in three offices, Paung Ku and its partners seek to address important issues affecting their communities and country, including community development and service delivery; peace, social justice and human rights; land, responsible investment and environmental protection; and democratization and good governance. Paung Ku is now seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of finance assistant (cashier) for its Yangon office. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Finance Assistant (Cashier) Grade: 3 Place of work: Yangon Reports to: I. Assistant Finance Manager JOB PURPOSE As a member of the central Finance Team, the job holder is responsible for processing treasury matters; making banking arrangements and cash transfers to area field offices in accordance with their cash forecasts taking into account associated risks; ensuring the financial compliance and checking of all Yangon head office daily expenditures in line with Paung Ku policies and procedures; and timely entering of the data into the Paung Ku financial accounting system. Processing cash withdrawals from bank accounts for all currencies, deposits, currency exchange transactions and follow up on bank transfers to suppliers and others. Manage bank transfers to field offices based on cash requisition forms from field offices in line with cash handling procedure (two to three times monthly to each field office) and confirming receipt by field office. Responsible for the cash box and safe that should be kept in a safe place and regularly controlled Maintain optimum cash balances and provide advice to Finance and Admin Manager for cash replenishment and management. Carry out on daily cash payments and check that payments for all Yangon office expenditures are fully documented e.g. purchase requisition, purchase order, goods received note and authorized by respective signatories and budget holders. Check that all cash payment vouchers (Kyat and USD) are complete with the correct coding structure, e.g. Source of Fund, Account Code, DEA and cost centre, in line with respective budgets. Prepare float control sheet and follow up to ensure timely clearance of outstanding floats from programme and support staff. Regularly inform the Finance and Admin Manager of long standing floats Enter all Yangon office payment transactions accurately, timely in Paung Ku accounting system. Conduct daily, weekly and monthly cash counts with another Finance Officer checking that the cash book balance is in line with the actual cash balance and report any discrepancies to the Finance and Admin Manager. Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by Finance and Admin Manager. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES Person specification Honesty is the most important asset for this position. Accounting Degree or LCCI level‐2 and 3 (or equivalent certification and experience) At least 2 years' experience in similar position. Experience in financial monitoring, budgetary systems, controls and cash management Knowledge and experience of financial computer applications Knowledge and experience in the use of Excel 2007 including Pivot Tables is an advantage.
