About HOPEsudbury Our organization emerged from the tragedy of September 11, 2001 to bring hope and humanity to our community…to reassure our children that people are really good at heart… and to demonstrate the value of working together. We chose the “take lemons and make lemonade” approach. It’s a positive message that suits Sudbury and one we hope we have modeled well over the years. The bulk of the funds raised at the Telethon support The HOPE Fund, which provides short-term financial assistance to local residents with emergency need. Last year, $39,000 was given to 59 families who turned to the Fund for support. Since 2001, HOPEsudbury has raised over $472,000 from the Telethon, Auction and annual appeal for those in need. HOPEsudbury has supported over 550 Sudbury families since 2001 through the HOPE Fund. Last year, over 30% of the 59 Sudbury families we helped were senior citizens and 60% were families with children. The HOPE Fund is completely confidential and is run with the help of the Sudbury Social Worker. HOPEsudbury has collected over 1,000 backpacks, toiletries and books through our Community Drives.
