Thank you for making my second Christmas here even better than my first—-and that’s saying something. Again thank you for your kindness, Fr. Good Luck to ALL! Believe it or not...it’s that time of the year again to begin collecting the blessed palm from your homes in order to have the ashes ready for Ash Wednesday on February 18th. So, beginning next weekend, February 1st (and the following weekend as well) you can bring any blessed palm from your homes and place it in the basket near the statue of Juan Diego. This palm will then be burned on February 15th at 9:15AM, and blessed on Ash Wednesday, ready to be used for the ashes with which we will sign ourselves for the season of Lent OLQA Book Club . . . The selection for this month, The Husbands Secret by Liane Moriarty, was chosen by Julie Stanton. The club will meet on Tuesday, January 27th @ 6:00 PM in the Parish Hall and is open to all parishioners. Please bring a light snack to share. Knights of Columbus meeting, Sunday, February 1, 2015, 7:00 PM at Monsignor Toland Park SAMARITAN NEWS: It looks like it will be a long Winter. Do you need an excuse to get out of the house? What about volunteering at the thrift shop? We could always use some more help. Some of our “regular volunteers” have gone South and others have health issues. Volunteers usually work 3 hours every other week. We have openings on Monday 9AM - noon and 5P—730PM, and Thursday 9AM—noon; noon—3PM, and 3PM to 6PM. We have a short orientation to help new staff feel comfortable. If you want to give it a try, please call Margaret Staahl at 382-8870. For the last 3 years I have had the honor of helping to present the Art Show and Wine Reception. This year’s art show was by all standards, a resounding success as a result of the participation of many of our parishioners. There were 34 artists representing a broad spectrum of art. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following hard workers for a job well done. The Art Committee: Pat Pineo, Mary Bracken, Earl Gross & Sandy Ragozine. For the wine and hors d’oeuvres: Susan Saulsberry, Carol Saulsberry, Leslie Conlin, Denise, Rita & Veronica Valentine, Mary Beth Newell & Linda Wasson. Their efforts were worthy of Downton Abbey; for the music, Carolyn Melby and for the video of Italy, Fr. Jeff. Thanks to all for coming and enjoying the art. I am looking forward to next year. Now is the time to get busy creating your art for the 1016 show!
