It was unveiled in Melbourne. Key facts of Team India’s eco-friendly ODI jersey • It is made out of 100% recycled polyester with a total of 33 recycled plastic bottles used to create the entire kit. • The new light weight kit combines high performance innovation with sustainability. • The jersey is light, comfortable and packed with innovation. • This eco-friendly jersey kit is made by BCCI’s official apparel sponsor Nike. Fact 2 India’s Open water swimmer Bhakti Sharma sets world record in Antarctic Ocean India’s open water swimmer Bhakti Sharma has set a new world record by swimming 1.4 miles in 52 minutes in one degree temperature in the Antarctic Ocean. She has bettered the earlier record of British open water swimmer Lewis Pugh and American swimmer Lynne Cox. She is also the first Asian girl and youngest in the world to achieve this feat. Hindustan Zinc had sponsored her to achieve this feat and pursue swimming career. About Bhakti Sharma • She has been pursuing open water swimming for the last 10 years. • She holds the distinction of being the youngest female swimmer in the world to swim in 5 oceans (Indian, Atlantic, Pacific, A Antarctic and Arctic) and 7 seas. • Awards: She is recipient of the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award-2010. Fact-3 Haryana Government unveils new sports policy Haryana government has unveiled new sports policy named Haryana Physical Activities and Sports Policy-2015 2015. It was announced Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at function organized at Rohtak. Key facts of Haryana Physical Activities and Sports Policy-2015 New sports policy, substantially increases the award money given to winners of international and national sports events. Olympic and Paralympic games • Gold medal winners: Will get Rs 6 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 5 crore. • Silver medal winners: Will get Rs 4 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 3 crore. • Bronze medal winners: Will get Rs 2.5 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 2 crore. • Participants: will get Rs 15 lakh cash awards. Earlier they were given Rs 11 lakh earlier. Asian Games • Gold medal winners: Will get Rs 3 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 2 crore. • Silver medal winners: Will get Rs 1.5 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 1 crore. • Bronze medal winners: Will get Rs 75 lakh .Earlier they were given Rs 50 lakh. Commonwealth Games • Gold medal winners: Will get Rs 1.5 crore. Earlier they were given Rs 1 crore. • Silver medal winners: Will get Rs 75 lakh. Earlier they were given Rs 50 lakh. • Bronze medal winners: Will get Rs 50 lakh .Earlier they were given Rs 25 lakh. World Cup/World Championship winners • Gold medal winners: Will get Rs 20 lakh. Earlier they were given Rs 10 lakh. • Silver medal winners: Will get Rs 15 lakh. Earlier they were given Rs 8 lakh. • Bronze medal winners: Will get Rs 10 lakh .Earlier they were given Rs 6 lakh. State government also has increased the award money for variouss other sports competitions including World University Games, Youth Olympic Games, National School Games, All India University Tournaments, World Marathon for Mentally Challenged, among other events. Eligibility and conditions: Cash award will only be givenn to those sportspersons who has represented the state of Haryana in any sports. The sportspersons or their parents should be residents of Haryana. As per the policy, players will be given awards for the performance of preceding financial year only and not for past performance or achievements.
