IndyGo Proposed and 2015 Route Changes Ryan Gallagher, Transit Planner About IndyGo o Municipal Corporation of Indianapolis – Marion County o More than 500 employees o Approx. 157 fixed route buses o Headquarters – 8.5 acres under one roof, west of downtown Indianapolis o In 2014, IndyGo provided 10.2 million passenger trips 2 3 Downtown Transit Center o Opening Late 2015 o Routes need to alter travel patterns to serve the Transit Center 4 o Planning initiative for the future of transit in Indianapolis. o Utilized stakeholders in neighborhoods, government, and business. o Identified opportunities to make the network more useful for spontaneous travel. 5 Comprehensive Operational Analysis 6 Proposed Route Changes o Individual Routes – 27 Routes Changing o Get a copy of proposals here today o Visit IndyGo.net/pages/indygoforward o Important to note o These are proposed changes and subject to change o IndyGo’s Board of Directors will vote on these in March based on YOUR Comments 7 So What’s New? o Frequent Service Corridors o Frequency = Wait time between buses. o Corridor = Street or combination of streets providing service to a specific destination. Late April 2015 – Final proposals presented to IndyGo Board for approval. Summer 2015 – Public outreach campaign to inform riders of changes.
