ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Production Technology was started in
the year 1977 with B.Tech Production Technology and
M.E Production Engineering (part time) in the year 1981.
The Department is a pioneer to start M.E Programme in
Mechatronics in the year 1999 & Manufacturing
(Specialization in Green Manufacturing) in part time
mode from 2013 and also offers M.S and PhD programmes. Currently offers 3 Full Time programmes (1
UG & 2 PG) and 3 Part Time programmes (1 UG & 2
PG). A total of 49 scholars have been awarded PhD (till
Dec 2014) and 53 scholars are pursuing their research.

ABOUT MECHATRONICS
Mechatronics is a fast growing engineering discipline. It
is concerned with the blending of mechanics, electronics,
control and computer engineering in a unified framework
that enhances the overall performance. MIT introduced
the M.E Mechatronics programme first time in India at
1999 with an intake of 15 students. More than 300 master
students have graduated and among them around 15 students have been completed their PhD; many of our students are working in core companies & in various reputed
educational institutions and organizations like DRDO and
ISRO.
REGISTRATION
The workshop will be beneficial for the Industrialist/Faculty
Members/PG Students and Research Scholars. The total registration is restricted to 100 numbers and registration fee for the
workshop is Rs1000. Interested aspirants should be drawn DD in
favor of “TAPE, Dept of PT” payable at Chennai. The scanned
copy of DD and scanned copy of filled registration form should
be e-mailed to: [email protected]. Original registration form and DD should be mailed to the given address. Free lunch, tea and snacks will be provided. The confirmation of registration is only through e-mail and accommodation
will not be provided.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
It is compulsory that the participants should attend the
entire duration of the workshop.
The objective of this workshop is to provide opportunity
for PG students, research scholars, faculty members and
industrialist to enrich their knowledge in the advancement
of Mechatronics Engineering.
