For our Archdiocesan church, it’s the grand beginning of super bowl for charity. It’s our annual DSF (Diocesan Services Fund) Commitment weekend. DSF empowers more than 60 Archdiocesan ministries to feed the hungry, clothe those in need, support social outreach programs, provide Christ’s presence to God’s people in hospitals, colleges and prisons… and so much more. Our Christian mission to love one another has been brought to life through your unwavering support of DSF. To keep these ministries and programs running, the Archdiocese has to meet a budget of around 13 million dollars per year. This year Archdiocesan Goal is set at $ 13,583,690.00. Each parish that comprises this large Archdiocese has its DSF goal depending on its size in order to attain the yearly budget. Our parish goal this year is $ 50,000.00. Remember this is a yearlong campaign. We may give our support at one time or make a pledge and fulfill it in an installment basis through the year. While we are all aware of the fact that the lifeblood of our parish church is our weekly contributions, we need to be reminded that the lifeblood of the various programs and services of the Archdiocese is this yearly DSF campaign. I am so grateful for the generous people of our parish that keep our church going and had consistently participated in this DSF campaign that we always meet our goal. I only beg those who have not yet participated to get involved - even a token of your kindness is very much welcome. The bottom line is actually not meeting our goal, but meeting our obligation as a Christian, as followers of the Lord who calls us to answer the needs of others. It is not that we are giving to structures or purely human endeavors, but that we are responding to message of Christ. The theme for this year’s campaign is, “Be Rich in Good Works… Ready to Share (1 Timothy 6:18-19),” which highlights the need to continue the ministerial work of the Archdiocese. By giving our material resources to God, we share the gifts that have been entrusted to our care and deepen our love for our brothers and sisters. It is also my deepest gratitude as pastor of this parish for the people and families of this parish who supported the DSF. I only lament the fact that there are only around 180 who do so consistently, while we have around 1,250 families. May God touch the hearts of others to do a Christian act of charity, please let us all support the DSF. Blessings to you and have a good week! Querida familia parroquial, Fr. Padre Tony ST. Several of our regular volunteers have had to be taken off of the schedule due to medical issues. The store hours are 9-11am, and the store is open every day but Thurs. & Sun.
