Two day workshop:
EVALUATION & MANAGEMENT OF TOE
WALKING FROM PT & OT PERSPECTIVES
This exciting new workshop covers therapeutic evaluation & treatment of paediatric
equinus gait ("toe walking") from both physiotherapy and occupational therapy
perspectives by combining traditional physiotherapy methodologies with the additional
support of occupational therapy sensory strategies when indicated to address toe walking
in paediatric populations.
Information is presented from a foundation in scientific principles and with the support of
relevant research and clinical evidence. Participants will learn a framework to determine
equinus gait etiologies and treatment strategies. Toe walking assessment strategies will
be introduced and related to specific treatment techniques for specific subsets of clients
with equinus gait.

Milestones Therapy are excited to bring Liesa Persaud (PT, DPT, PCS, CKTP), wellknown for her work with the toe-walking population in the U.S., to New Zealand to present
this in-demand course.
Ms. Persaud is a licensed physical therapist with 21 years’ experience in the field of adult
and pediatric therapy. Ms. Persaud is the lead physical therapist at Tulsa Sunshine Center
in Oklahoma. Additionally, Liesa is owner of Know to Change, PLLC in Skiatook,
Oklahoma, and has educated health care professionals, both nationally and
internationally, in advanced treatment techniques, specialized practical training and
consultative services. She has worked in a variety of settings, including private pediatric
and adult clinics, schools, private homes, hospitals and long-term care facilities.
Ms. Persaud is a Credentialed Clinical Instructor and also teaches human anatomy,
physiology and nutrition at Tulsa Community College. Ms. Persaud earned her Master’s
Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Oklahoma in 2003
and continued to expand her expertise in the field. She received her postgraduate
Doctorate from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and is a Board Certified
Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy.
Her wide range of clinical experience, organizational leadership, and proficient teaching
skills make her an exciting and compelling instructor.
