Richard T. Peters. About 15 years ago he spent 3 seasons in residence on CD row. Just at Christmas he
remarked how much he had enjoyed that time here, especially his discussions with George Huber and the

I want to thank all the volunteers who helped with the Boating & Fishing Dinner Dance. Thank you to
everyone who worked, from ticket sales, getting supplies, setting up, serving, clean up, picking up and
serving beer and wine; without everyone working together we could never have had a successful dinner
dance. We also appreciate everyone who attended the dinner and hopefully forgave us for our shortfalls

BINGO: Fast & Furious, no fuss no muss, BINGO was a huge SHOUT, one winner in the first 4
numbers called. Next Bingo was called here, bingo was called there, bingo was called everywhere, it was
another fun night. This time we had many new comers and guests. Section 4 area is growing (Hank we
missed you), ha ha. Bingo has over 200 members, all we need is to get 100 of you to play at the same
time &the pot gets $50.00 more, not to say that the pots are “chopped liver”. $13.00/ $18.00/$40.00 & the
Jack pot was a huge $130.00 without the $50.00, just imagine. It was one of the nicest games ever,
people do make friends at bingo, it is a social club, yes everyone wants to win, however, everyone is so
happy for the people who do & so nice to see people congratulating them. The Briny way of what
friendships are all about is something you can actually touch at Bingo. The Jackpot of $130. Was won
by a woman named “Jan”, this is her 2nd jackpot win in 5 weeks, well over $250.00, something is going

CHURCH NEWS
His name is Wonderful. We are so blessed to have Jesus as our Savior and we can sing ‘His Name is
Wonderful’. We are glad that so many came out for the Communion service which was led by the Rev.
Ray Brower. Rev. Brower spoke to us on ‘Completed for God’. The text he read from was Deuteronomy
5:28-33. He reminded us that the men and women of the Bible were told to carry out the tasks and they
did it, and we should do the same thing. When we are told by God to do it, we should do it with all our
heart – do it for God; as always, a wonderful message. Dave Florence sang a beautiful hymn.
This Sunday Rev. Dr. Harold Schmul will bring God’s message. The choir would like to thank Judy
Nasby and Mary Fulton Kelley for leading us. God tells them to ‘do it’ and they do it with such joy.
If you would like to give flowers in memory or honor of a loved one or friend, please call Betty Foland at
272-3990. The service is held each Sunday at 10:30am in the Auditorium. The service is interdenominational and all are welcome. Listen with your heart and if God tells you to come, then do it!

& Germany; and being taken to prison camp in Germany and walking the German Death March. Thank
you for your book Carl, and thank you for your service to our country.
Stan & Carole Brunell (Briny renters), have donated Turtlee in Paris. This book was written & illustrated
by their 12-year old granddaughter, Paris Stankewich. Turtlee, has always wanted to travel to Paris,
France. When he finally gets to go, the trip doesn't go as he planned. Join Turtlee on an exciting
adventure in France! (In our updated children’s section.)

There is no doubt that many of the others are ready for the Couples League. On a cool evening, January
28th, 10 courts (40 players) had fun playing and the 2 game winners were: Marge Leverence & Bill Miller,

THE FOUNTAIN PROJECT (LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE)
Pavers are such a popular update. As I drive around our neighboring suburbs I see complex updating with
pavers. A walk along Old Ocean shows even the most modest units busy laying pavers. It truly makes a
more up to date appearance. Appearance matters. The fountain, as it exists today, does not say much for
the way Briny cares for itself. We now have the opportunity to make an attractive entryway. All Briny
residents should embrace this project. The opportunity to put your name or names of family members or
friends on a Legacy Brick, and at the same time, make a visual change is exciting. This project is to be
accomplished all with donations of those who care about Briny. Forms are in the office - $100 per
Legacy Paver. Show you are one of those who care. Write your check today to Briny Breezes Inc. –
memo: Landscape/Legacy Brick Paver. Remember Valentines Day is near – what a great gift idea, buy a
Legacy Brick.
NOTES FROM YOUR BOARD PRESIDENT
Even though there is lots’ going on in Briny, everything seems to be moving along nicely. I am grateful
to live in Florida, especially during these very snowy, winter months. January and February is non-stop
meetings. Last week, our General shareholders meeting was well attended, good ideas and concerns were
brought up and we will work on addressing some of these in the coming months. This past Wednesday
was our Annual Budget Meeting and our regular board meeting for February is next Wednesday the 11th
and then the Annual meeting will be February 25th. Please try to attend and participate in these meetings.
Our committees are very actively working on improvement plans for many items that will also come to
the board soon; I want to thank everyone who continues to participate.
I want to acknowledge the extra efforts this past month by Director Oglesby who has been working nonstop to prepare our annual meeting ballots, proxy and all that goes with that. This is a huge job and I want
to thank him for the seemingly endless preparation. Director Susan Brannen has become Tom’s right
hand in this project so a big thank you to Susan as well. Somehow Tom still finds time to work with
contractors and staff on the many seawall projects that are still ongoing in district 4 and with the
maintenance staff on drainage issues.
Director Gross and the technology committee got right to work after the general meeting and are actively
working to get our sound system in better working order, so hopefully you will see some improvement
coming soon. They are still working on cable solutions and lots of other ideas for improving our future.
Another huge thank you goes to Director Stewart who is moving full steam ahead getting everyone new
ID badges. Along with the new BLUE Lanyards, everyone who has one is now easily recognizable.
Paul’s every day efforts in the park are greatly appreciated and this project for sure is a huge effort. I
know everyone is happy to have these new, very visible badges. Please, if you have not done so already,
get a new BLUE Lanyard. Paul is also actively working with committee and staff on creative solutions to
help manage our drainage issues in districts 1 and 2.
Your Annual meeting packages went out this week, you should receive them any day now. PLEASE
participate in the meeting process by completing your proxy and voting. WE MUST have a quorum of
shareholders to conduct business at this meeting. Please complete your proxy and vote for the
amendments that are being proposed. As your board president, I SUPPORT ALL OF THE BALLOT
ISSUES and will vote YES on all ballot matters. Please fill out your proxy and VOTE. Let’s keep Briny
moving forward. I will be away on vacation for our February 11th meeting but will see you all back for
the Annual Meeting.
