ABOUT THANJAVUR
Tanjore rose to glory during the later Chola period
between the 10th and 14th centuries AD and became of
the centre learning and culture. Overrun by green fertile
plains,Tanjore the headquarters of the district of the
same name is known as the "Rice bowl" of Tamil
Nadu.The destination has a large share of the ancient
temple wonders of South India.Tanjore in the state of
Tamil Nadu is also noted for its exquisite handicrafts,
bronze statue castings, pith temple models and South
Indian musical instruments like the veena and
mridangam.This also referred as the "Art capital of
South India" and most of time called by the name
Tanjavur.The temple, fort and the palaces of Tanjore
have been a silent witness to the great cultural and
artist awakening that it once experienced.Also known
as, ‘Tanjore’, the city of Thanjavur has an interesting
history to relay. It might interest you to know that this
city of temples is actually named after demon Tanjan. It
is one of the oldest towns in southern India.Thanjavur
today are all ranked under UNESCO world Heritage
Monuments.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT:
Department of Physics at Rajah Serfoji Government
College (Autonomous), Thanjavur was established UG
level in 1957 and PG course was started in 1970 with a
vision make an impact in providing quality education,
technology based training and innovation and service to
the society. The main objective of the Department is to
provide quality teaching and research activities for
young students, consistent with the State, National,
International trends, needs and priorities.
The educational programs offered are UG, PG
and Doctoral Programs. The Department is well
experienced faculty members with their research fields
like Nano Technology, Thin Film Physics, Ultra – Sonics,
Crystal growth, Condensed matter physics, and related
various interesting topics.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE
Thanjavur is located at the Grand Anaicut canal
(Pudhaaru), Vadavaaru and Vennaaru rivers flow
through the town. Thanjavur is situated in the Cauvery
delta, at a distance of 314 km (195 mi) south-west of
Chennai and 56 km (35 mi) east of Tiruchirappalli. The
nearest seaport in Nagapattinam which is 84 km
(52 mi) east of Thanjavur. The nearest airport is
Tiruchirappalli International Airport. The place is
beautiful in rains and offers some relief from the hot
climate. The average rainfall is 46 inches (1,200 mm),
most of which is contributed by the North-East
monsoon.
ABOUT COLLEGE
Raja Serfoji Government Arts College (RSGC), Thanjavur
was established in 1955 by former Governor Thiru. Shri
Prakasa. College started on 23.06.1955 with 120
students at
Sangeetha Mahal, Palace campus,
Thanjavur.The college site of 156 Acres of Land was
presented by Rotary Club of Thanjavur on 24.02.1956
The College got three star grade by NAAC accreditation
committee in 2000. The college got autonomous state in
2004 and B++ state in 2006-2007. Their mission is to
impart quality higher education in consance with there
motto “To discern the ultimate truth is wisdom”.
They strive to develop citizens with knowledge,
skill, character leading to social transformation and
national development. They aim at making their
students men, women to offer their selfless service for

CALL FOR PAPERS
The abstract for paper presentation must not
exceed 300 words and must showcase seminar themes.
It should be submitted in electronic format (MS Word
2003
or
2007)
as
email
attachment
to

Research papers should report original,
previouslyunpublished experimental or theoretical
results. The manuscript should be restricted to a
maximum of 5 pages. (Text in MS Word Format.
Times New Roman 12 pt., Single Column, 1.5 line
spacing justified)
The authors may send the Full Paper after the
acceptance of abstract which will be published with
“NANOVISION”- An International Journal of
Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, after the reviews
based on the originally, importance and contribution of
work towards current research. The Full paper should
be sent on or before 28.02.2015.
AWARDS
Two awards will be offered (one each for best
oral and poster presentation)
