Perceived Necessary Requirements of Boat Ramps and Associated facilities: Concrete ramp allowing two or more concurrent launch and retrievals. • Suitable depth of water in all tide conditions. • Allows “mast-up” launch and retrieval. • The alternative of mast-down launch and retrieval can be dangerous if weather conditions become bad. • Adequate shelter from prevailing winds and sea. • Wharfs or floating pontoons to tie-up to after launching and before retrieval. • Car park for secure parking of trailers and towing vehicle. Further options also considered of importance. • Availability of toilet facilities. • Proximity of shops. • Availability of fuel. • Members are also recommended to go to the following website for details about many Victorian and Interstate launch ramps. www.baum.com.au/ramps - the Boat Ramps Notepad Google Earth also can provide close-up views and maps to all ramps.
