Course details This qualification reflects evolving role of Teacher Aides in a range of educational settings, including public and independent schools. Teacher Aides provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision. Certificate 3 Guarantee! Under the Certificate 3 Guarantee program, eligible students who completed year 12 the calendar year prior to commencing training in this course, are able to access fee-free training (for this course). Additionally, students must also be employed in the industry or be prepared to undertake 200 hours of vocational placement (this will equate to approximately 35 hours of Vocational Placement per term). These hours will need to be undertaken in conjunction with units studied (so theory can be applied to practice). Students must hold or obtain a Blue Card prior to commencing vocational placement. A Blue Card Application Form, pre-populated with TAFE Queensland South West details, is available under the 'Relevant Documents' section. Please lodge this application through TAFE. Prior to commencing Vocational Placement, students will also need to ensure they have completed and submitted their Vocational Placement paperwork. Recommended Requirements Students entering this course should have completed year 10, or be 16 years of age or above. Students are required to have well developed reading, writing, oral communication, numeracy, and computing skills to have an increased chance of successfully completing their studies. Students who are not employed in the industry are strongly encouraged to source their Vocational Placement prior to enrolling. It is strongly recommended that students entering via a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway are currently working in the industry and have a minimum of two years full-time equivalent experience. Enrolment Pattern Direct entry for this course is available each term. Students enrol in one group of competencies per term, commencing with Group 1. Students not currently employed in the industry will also need to enrol in vocational placement. Students entering via a traineeship pathway must be employed as a trainee and have a signed training contract to be able to undertake this course. The enrolment pattern for an individual trainee will vary according to the units of competency specified in their individual training plan.
