♦ DROWNING VICTIM IDENTIFIED
A man whose body was found in the Etowah River Saturday has
been identified as Justin Stephens, a white male in his 20's. It appears Stephens drowned. Officials are awaiting autopsy results to
determine the cause of death.
♦ WEST END BUSINESS BURGLARIZED
Cartersville Police were called to an alarm at Compass Financial Partners, 680 Douthit Ferry Rd., around 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
Officers arrived to find the glass back door shattered. Keyholders
James Earl Jordan, III and Dennis Collier arrived at the business and
determined a Washburn Banjo and a briefcase containing paperwork
taken. Security footage was reviewed and two males with their faces
covered with bandanas were seen. The stolen items are worth almost $2,000.
♦ FIFTEEN COMPANIES COMMIT IN 2014
The Cartersville-Bartow Co. Department of Economic Development released their 2014 Economic Development Annual report to
its Board of Directors, Monday. In 2014 Cartersville-Bartow Co.
had 15 companies commit to 1,937 jobs and over $297,000,000 in
new investments over the next five years. Existing and new companies included B.I.G. USA, Inc., Surya Rugs, Trinity Industries, Daiki
Corp., Vista Metals, Aquafil USA and voestalpine Automotive Body
Parts to name a few.

♦ The 31 year old man who shot himself Sunday night after a
domestic dispute with his father has died. Paul Limerick, Canton,
died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Cherokee Co.
Sheriff's negotiators and SWAT members communicated with Limerick about 5 hours before he shot himself. Because of the interaction
with the sheriff's office before the shooting the G.B.I. is investigating.
♦ The Walt Disney Co. raised ticket prices. Single day tickets for
the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista,
Florida, are now $105 up from $99. A one day ticket to Epcot,
Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom is now
$97, up from $94.
♦ A new study in the New England Journal of Medicine said early
exposure to peanuts could prevent peanut allergies in children.
♦ The movie "Birdman" won the Academy Award for best picture. Eddie Redmayne won best actor for playing Stephen Hawking. Best actress went to "Still Alive" star Juliane Moore.
