Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty III - Process Sciences - Institute of Environmental Engineering offers a
position of a
University Professor - salary grade W 3
for the chair ”Water Quality Control“.
Reference number: III-65/15 (to be filled from 01/10/2016)
Responsibilities: Research in the fields of water technology and water chemistry: 1. Development and scientifically
based application of natural and technical processes for water purification in conurbations for the protection of
aquatic systems and the ensuring of water supply, 2. Chemical pollution of urban waters: Development of analytical
methods, monitoring and assessment, investigation of the sources and discharge processes, 3. Elimination and
transformation processes of chemical substances in natural and technical barriers of the water cycle.
Teaching in both German and English is required in the fields of water quality control, water chemistry, water
treatment and advanced waste water treatment and reuse, as well as in water analysis in the Bachelor and Master
programmes of “Environmental Engineering”. Participation in teaching and research of the advanced Master course
“Water Engineering” in El Gouna, Egypt, in the DFG Graduate School “Urban Water Interfaces” and in the TU core
research field “Water in Urban Areas” is expected.
Requirements: Candidates should fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with
§ 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in
research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification and pedagogical didactic
qualifications, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB website, quick access no.
143077). University education as environmental or chemical engineer or in chemistry. Comprehensive and
fundamental knowledge and research expertise in the fields of water chemistry and water technology in the
international context. Experience in leading a research group and in acquisition and management of nationally and
internationally funded research projects. Evidence of successful cooperation with non-university research institutions.
Practical experience in university teaching.
