CANCELLATION POLICY
Any cancellation or replacement must be
conveyed to the Organizer in writing. A
cancellation charge of 50% of the fee will be
levied if the cancellation is received before 7
March 2015. There will be no fee refund if the
cancellation is made thereafter.
The Organizer reserves the right to cancel the
workshop and fully refund the participants
should unforeseen circumstances necessitate it.

INTRODUCTION
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Departments of Plastic, Reconstructive and
Aesthetic Surgery, Hand Surgery, SingHealth
Experimental Medicine Centre and SGH
Surgical Skills Centre are organizing this 5day course to provide surgeons and trainees
invaluable instruction on the intricate
techniques of microvascular surgery.
The aim of the workshop is to allow
participants to:
• Understand the basic techniques and
concepts of microsurgery
• Understand basic of nerve repair
The course is designed to provide
opportunity for participants to acquire basic
skills in various microsurgical techniques
from the adjustment of the operating
microscopes to the performance of a free
flap transfer. A series of excellent lectures
and demonstrations have been prepared to
this end. As always, the emphasis of this
course will be hands-on practice of these
skills. The teaching faculty comprises
surgeons and laboratory technicians who
regularly use these microsurgical skills to
ensure participants receive the most
optimal guidance throughout the course.
This course is designed for residents,
fellows in surgery programs and practicing
surgeons
that
utilise
microvascular
procedures. In addition, physician's
assistants, research personnel, and other
members of the surgical team assisting in
microvascular procedures will benefit.

TARGET AUDIENCE
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the workshop, trainees will be
able to:
• Use an operating microscope proficiently
• Perform basic microvascular anastomoses
(end-to end arterial, end-to-end venous,
end-to-side vascular anastomosis and
interpositional vein grafts
Use an operating microscope proficiently
• Perform nerve coaptation
• Perform a free flap transfer in a rat model
