Job Opening The German Embassy in Washington, DC, is seeking to fill a local staff position for a security officer starting April 2015 (for an initial period of one year). Duties and Responsibilities Check the access authorization of Embassy employees Operate security equipment (e.g. metal detector wands, walk-through metal detector/baggage x-ray inspection machine) in cases of visitor groups Operate the gate and barrier systems Receive and forward arriving deliveries and postal packages/mail (mail x-ray device) Escort technicians and delivery personnel Perform other security-relevant duties during daily working hours and at events taking place on the Embassy premises, also after regular business hours Fill in for other security officers Qualifications and Requirements German language skills desirable Ability to communicate and work in a team Organizational skills Contract conditions and compensation are based on the standard employment agreement for nondiplomatic staff at the German foreign missions in the U.S. and on the corresponding pay scale. Applicants who are not U.S. citizens must have a valid green card or a valid G4 visa with an unrestricted work permit.
