I took the principal position here at Lourdes with an understanding that I would obtain my license within 2 years. I found a program that work worked ed at an accelerated level and would have it completed in 20 months. When I started the program, I couldn’t even imagine a time when I found myself putting everything together and finishing the program. As this date approaches, it caused me to reflect on my journey as Lourdes principal and led me in a direction of appreciate for those who have helped me along the way. All Lourdes families deserve a word of thanks from m me. e. Two summers ago, you and SAC decided to offer me, an unknown person without any experience, ex an opportunity to lead your school. I’m sure there were re a number of reasons why you could have given it to another candidate. Thank you for allowing me to come to your school and give me a chance. Getting to know you and your children has enriched iched my life in so many ways. I am so blessed to come to a school where I know every child’s name and have an understanding of what makes them tick. I’m sure we have all heard the advice of of, always look for small things in your life that you are gratef grateful ul for. So many times we are looking for something better, easier, or bigger and we don’t truly appreciate what we have. Being able to see your children every day is one of the greatest blessings that I don’t on’t take for granted. The only way that I can rrepay you for this great opportunity is s to continue to work on ways to improve our school and help your children. Thank You Lourdes Families! The staff at Lourdes has been great to me while on my journey. They have allowed me room m to grow and helped in so many ways. They have been open to looking at things from different perspectives and giving input on suggestions. They have helped me to better understand what being a leader is and how to find ways to bring the best out of every person. They have been patient, understanding, thoughtful, and instructional. Thank you Lourdes Staff! My wife Jennifer and my children Kayla, Brian, and Rebecca have all been very understanding of this process and the time commitment. They have all had to step up and take on additional responsibilities at home. My educational career actually started when I quit my corporate job and deci decided ded to be a stay at home dad. dad Since I hav have been heavily involved in my children’s lives since they were small, this past 20 months has been a little different. Thank you Young clan! Lunch Schedule: K-2: eat 11:55-12:15, recess 12:15-12:35 3-5: eat 11:40-12:00, recess 12:00-12:20 As March 2nd kept getting closer and closer, I started thinking of my father more and more. My dad passed away in 2006. He was a tough nut to crack. He didn’t hand out compliments very often. I believe that his mindset was established in us boys that we had certain expectations to meet and nothing less was accepted. I didn’t like it at the time but his influence has helped me so much in becoming the person I am and it certainly helped me these past 20 months. I had so much to do and I was spread quite thin, but the expectation I put on myself was to put my m mind to it and succeed. There was no other option. I am certainly hoping that he is looking down on me this next week and is thinking “job well done, you did good kid”. Thank you Dad! 6-8: eat 11:24-11:44, recess 11:44-12:02 Follow Our Lady of Lourdes School on . Living, Loving, and Learning The Lourdes Way Page 2 Weekly PBIS Winners NOTICE! This week’s winners! Page 3 OLOL parents, In last week’s Family News we included a letter about this year’s Jump Rope for Heart event at OLOL. This Monday, your child should have brought home two important pieces to support this year’s event: 1. Heart Hero: This paper heart is a visual way to showcase the people in our lives who have already been impacted by a heart condition or stroke. We hope it served as an opportunity to talk with your child about heart health. If you haven’t yet, we ask all hearts be returned to school by Thursday, Feb. 26. We’ll be creating one giant heart on the wall of the gym as a valuable visual for the students as they jump during our Jump Rope for Heart event. 2. Fundraising: A fundraising packet was also sent home. Students are encouraged to raise money to support their jumping efforts and the American Heart Association. There’s even an option to help your child create an online fundraising page – making it easy to collect donations from family near and far. Visit www.heart.org/jump and click on “Register Today” to get started. As you can see on the pamphlet, there are some great incentives to encourage the students to fundraise. We’ll collect donations through Friday, March 6. Come Cheer and Jump Our Jump Rope for Heart event will be an all-school activity in the gym this Friday, Feb. 27 from 1:20 – 2:30. Students will rotate stations. All parents are invited to attend and cheer on our jumpers… even come jump with us! Thanks in advance for your involvement with this year’s Jump Rope for Heart. We’re on the Web www.lourdesschooldepere.org Early Release OLOL Office Hours The school office will close on half days a half hour after dismissal, noon for 11:30 elementary dismissal and 11:30 for 11AM releases.
