About the Institution
Anna University – BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli has
been established by the Government of Tamil
Nadu as a Technical Institution at Tiruchirappalliknown as Rock Fort city, with rich cultural heritage
and home to many reputed educational
institutions. The institution is established with a
view to impart quality student centered technical
education, so as to produce proven technocrats
and to strive hard for continuous development and
improvement
in
learning,
research
and
developmental activities. Teaching, Research and
Extension services are carried through the
Departments and Centers of the Institution. The
institution also works towards fostering partnership
with academic and industrial experts to provide
quality
education
and
opportunities
for
entrepreneurial development by providing handson training in the frontier areas. BIT has carved a
niche for itself in providing technical education in
the disciplines that are unique in our country.
Aiming at excellence, the institution offers UG, PG
and research programmes in various disciplines.
Department of Petrochemical Technology
The Department of Petrochemical Technology,
Anna University–BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli was
established in the year 1999 as one of the
specialized Departments of Anna University – BIT
Campus, Tiruchirappalli with a view to impart high
quality technical education. Its mission is to craft
the young students as energetic engineers
endowed with pragmatic skills so that they can
boldly face the challenges of the technical world.
The Department offers a B.Tech programme in
Petrochemical Technology, M.S. (Research) /
Ph.D in chemical, petrochemical and energy
related areas.
About the Programme
The world of nanotechnology provides
exciting challenges and opportunities for scientists
and technologists irrespective of their discipline as
the size effect is an important consideration while
studying and computing various physical
phenomena. A number of areas such as
electronics industries, bio-medical engineering,
lasers, micro electro mechanical systems, etc.
employ analysis and design based on microscale
and nanoscale phenomena.
The main objective of this faculty
development programme is to introduce
participants
to
various
characterization
technologies in the field of Nanotechnology and
also to discuss possibilities of research in this
area. The proposed programme also covers the
vast range of applications of Nanotechnology,
which is an expected future technology that will
make most products lighter, stronger, cleaner, less
expensive, more precise and importantly energy
efficient.
