Title: Using technology to support good practice in assessment
and feedback in online and distance learning
Leaders: Dr Mariana Lilley and Jonathan Meere, University of
Hertfordshire, UK
The main purpose of this workshop is to explore how the use of technology can
support principles of good practice in assessment and feedback. The School of
Computer Science and UH Online have over 10 years of experience in creating,
managing and delivering assessment across the globe, and this workshop will draw
on this experience.
This will be a hands-on workshop. Examples of particular case studies on different
e-assessment formats including traditional computer-based tests, Flexilevel test,
vivas, peer review and online presentations will be made available to participants.
Approaches to student authentication - including the use of remote live invigilation will also be covered. The focus of the workshop will be on online distance learning
programmes, the approaches discussed will be applicable to a number of campusbased scenarios.
Participants are welcome to bring to the workshop materials that illustrate their
own assessment and feedback practices, and to share these materials with other
attendees.
This workshop should be of interest to academic staff and learning technologists
who are involved in the creation and management of assessment and feedback.
Participation in the workshop is free to registered participants at ECEL 2015.
