Research Projects
Investigation of Frost Formation and Durability of Scalable Jumping-Droplet Aluminum Surfaces
Guide: Prof. Nenad Miljkovic, MechSE, UIUC
(Aug’14-present)
 Investigating nanostructure designs that promote jumping droplets with enhanced frost reduction
capabilities
 Developing and fabricating scalable and robust superhydrophobic nanostructured surfaces
 Modelling condensation and frosting processes on SLIPS and jumping droplet surfaces
- Simulating heat transfer through water droplet using ANSYS to validate above models
Air to Air Heat Recovery System
(Jul’12-Sep’13)
Guide: Prof. M V Rane, Heat Pump Laboratory, IIT Bombay
 Designed and simulated a novel, simple, cost-effective and easy to manufacture corrugated heat and mass
exchanger
 Applications include: Dedicated Air to Air Heat Recovery Systems, Indirect Evaporative Cooling,
Pervaporation, Liquid Desiccant Regeneration, Desalination, Potable Water Generation
 Experimentally investigated the performance of heat exchanger in DOAS & Indirect Evaporative Cooling to
validate its advantages over prior art
 Filed a patent on this design at Indian Patent Office
Designing of HVAC system of Solar Powered House
(Dec’12-Dec’13)
Guide: Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Energy Science and Engineering Department, IIT-Bombay
 Team Leader of HVAC subsystem of IIT Bombay Solar Decathlon team
 Team aimed to design and build an efficient, sustainable solar powered house representing Indian context
for Solar Decathlon Europe 2014 competition, organized by US Department of Energy
Powertrain for Formula Student Car
(Jul’11-Dec’12)
Guide: Prof. C Amarnath, Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT-Bombay
 Design Engineer at IIT Bombay Racing Team which designs and manufactures an Electric Formula Race
Car for the Formula Student, UK competition
 Designed, modeled and simulated gearbox of the car with maximum power to weight ratio
Internships
Skoda Auto India Private Limited
(Jun’12-Jul’12)
 Project aimed at convenient selection of parts for different car models on assembly line
 Engineered and successfully implemented an Arduino microcontroller based “Pick to Light” and “Pick in
Sequence” system
