Association, Little Rock
Panel:
Curtis L. Lowery Jr., MD, Chairperson, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences, Little Rock
James Magee, Executive Director, Piggott Community Hospital
Steve Spaulding, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Networks,
Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, Little Rock
Telemedicine has become increasingly popular throughout the years. Its innovative benefits are of vital interest amid the implementation of the Affordable Care
Act. Telemedicine uses a variety of forms of electronic communication technology
to provide a convenient method to deliver healthcare services and education. This
program will explore the current and future role of telemedicine in the delivery of
healthcare. The program, surveying the various uses and settings of telemedicine,
will delve into how well this technology has been utilized and received by clinicians and patients. Technical, operational, regulatory and financial aspects of the
development of telemedicine programs will be investigated. The expanding role
that telemedicine holds in daily medicine and its direction into the future of the
healthcare delivery system will be explored.
The panel will discuss how telemedicine has been used to care for patients, in
what settings and the effectiveness of treatment. The technical and operational
issues that must be considered in the development of telemedicine services; the
legal and regulatory implications of employing telemedicine in the care of patients
will also be discussed; the financial and reimbursement implications of employing
telemedicine in the care of patients; and future applications of telemedicine and
how the potential shift in healthcare reimbursement toward assuming greater risk
may impact healthcare providers’ use of telemedicine will also be discussed.
This panel discussion has been developed and is presented locally by the
Arkansas Hospital Association and the Arkansas Health Executives Forum. The
American College of Healthcare Executives has awarded ACHE 1.5 Face-to-Face

Nashville Zoo
3777 Nolensville Pike; Nashville, TN 37211; 615-833-1534
The Nashville Zoo is home to animals from all over the globe. Amphibians, arthropods (insects, arachnids and
crustaceans), birds, fish, mammals and reptiles each have their very own habitat meticulously constructed to
resemble their natural homes.
The Hermitage, Home of President Andrew Jackson
4580 Rachel’s Lane; Nashville, TN 37076; 615-889-2941
The property, purchased by Andrew Jackson in 1804, includes the mansion, several outbuildings and the
modest (although expensively decorated) log farmhouse that President Jackson and his wife Rachel lived in for
the first 16 years of their land ownership. You’ll learn how he thrived in farming while balancing his military
and political careers. You can also follow the story of President Jackson’s life by examining the buildings that
were built as his wealth grew, including the mansion which was completed in 1820.
Grand Ole Opry
2804 Opryland Dr; Nashville, TN 37214; 615-871-6779
The Grand Ole Opry is also known as “home of American Music” and “country’s most famous stage” for a
very good reason, thousands of world-renowned stars have performed here. Amazing performers such as Hank
Williams, Minnie Pearl, Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and Dierks Bentley have all graced this
stage. Take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch country music's up-and-coming stars and legends
perform on the same night.
The Parthenon
2500 West End Avenue; Nashville, TN 37203; 615-862-8431
The Parthenon stands proudly as the centerpiece of Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban park. The
re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the focus of the Parthenon just as it was in ancient Greece. The
building and the Athena statue are both full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals.
Originally built for Tennessee's 1897 Centennial Exposition, this replica of the original Parthenon in Athens
serves as a monument to what is considered the pinnacle of classical architecture. The plaster replicas of the
Parthenon Marbles found in the Naos are direct casts of the original sculptures which adorned the pediments of
the Athenian Parthenon, dating back to 438 B.C. The originals of these powerful fragments are housed in the
British Museum in London.
