ABOUT THE EXHIBITION In 2015 the John B. Aird Gallery will be celebrating 30 years. To mark this anniversary, the gallery is organizing a special exhibition that solicits entries in any media from emerging, imminent or recent arts graduates, and young artists who will be 30 st years of age or under as of December 31 2015. Selected works will be displayed in the gallery from June 30 - July 24, 2015 under the exhibition title of 30 Under 30. The goal of the exhibit is to promote the work of up and coming artists in a professional setting while proposing the question: What does the next generation have to say? HOW TO ENTER • Artists may submit images of up to two works. All entries must be submitted in digital jpg format. Each jpeg must be no more than 1.5 MB in size, and labeled as follows: Last Name, First Name, Title, Date, Size (Height x Width), Media.jpg. • Submit works no larger than 60" in any one direction. Accepted works must be framed, fitted with hanging devices, and clearly labeled on the back with the name of the artist, title, medium, size, and date of production. • The Gallery Director can choose not to hang any work, which does not conform to entry rules or was not clearly represented on the submission. • UPLOAD ENTRY MATERIALS via our web site detailed instructions on how to do this are outlined on the site at: www.airdgallery.org (go to the “OPEN CALLS and SUBMISSIONS” page). Please note that you must download the entry form, fill it out and upload it with your images and bio in a compressed zip folder. To use this option you must also be able to pay the $30 entry fee via on-line banking using an Interac e-transfer. WHEN USING INTERACT TRANSFER USE THE TITLE OF THE SHOW: 30Under30 as your PASSWORD or Mail/hand-deliver your entry with jpegs on a CD to: John B. Aird Gallery 900 Bay Street, Macdonald Block, Toronto, ON M7A 1C2. ENTRY DEADLINE May 1, 2015, 5:00 pm. ENTRY FEE The entry fee is $30. This fee covers entry of two works per artist, is non-refundable and must be mailed with the entry form or sent via on-line banking (see above). Please make cheques or money orders payable to: John B. Aird Gallery. CURATOR Gary Michael Dault is a writer, painter, photographer and art critic. He is the author of a number of books about the visual arts as well as numerous gallery and museum catalogues. He has written frequently for Canadian Art and Border Crossings, and, for over a decade, contributed a weekend visual arts review column ("Gallery-Going") to The Globe & Mail. DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORKS Accepted work(s) along with a one page bio must be delivered to the John B. Aird Gallery, 900 Bay Street, Toronto, on Sunday, June 28, between 10 am and noon. Bios will be put in a binder made available to gallery goers. INSURANCE Works in the exhibition are insured at the retail price less 30%. Claims may be subject to an appraisal to determine the market value of the work. There is a $1,000 deductible on each claim to be paid by the artist. ABOUT THE JOHN B. AIRD GALLERY The John B. Aird Gallery, formerly the Macdonald Gallery was reopened in May of 1985 as a result of an agreement concluded between the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs on behalf of the Government of Ontario and six visual arts organizations, namely: Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour, Ontario Crafts Council, Ontario Society of Artists, Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Society of Canadian Artists, and Sculptors Society of Canada. The mission of the Gallery is to foster awareness and enjoyment of artworks by contemporary professional artists. The Gallery endeavors to recognize, encourage and nurture excellence in the visual arts. EXHIBITION WAIVER Please sign below to acknowledge that you are the owner of the entered work(s); that the John B. Aird Gallery has the right to exhibit them from June 30 – July 24, 2015; that the Gallery has the right to use photographic reproductions of your work(s) for publicity, promotional, and documentary purposes; and that you agree to the terms outlined on this form. * If audio/visual equipment is required for a piece, the artist must supply the equipment. EXHIBITION DATES & RECEPTION The exhibition will be on view June 30 - July 24, 2015.
