Achievements:
Panther won 31 field and retriever trial stakes overall. These include:
7 field and retriever trial Championship Stakes.
4 Interstate Retriever trial Stakes in succession 1958-62 held at Albury
NSW., between Victorian and N.S.W. dogs.
The most Retriever Trial Championship Stakes in succession, which were,
N.S.W. 1961, Victoria 1962, N.S.W. 1962 and Victoria 1963.
He was the only dog ever to win 3 different types of championship stakes
for field work. These were the Victorian Field Trial Championship, the N.S.W.
Retriever Trial Championship Stake and the Victorian Retriever Trial
Championship Stake.
The only dog to ever win the Victorian Field Trial Championship Stake and
the Victorian Retriever Trial Championship double in the one year.
Panther has also been runner up in four Field and four Retriever trial Championship Stakes.
Panther was awarded fifteen Certificates of Merit in field and retrieving trials.
Panther reached the finals or semi-finals sixteen times in field trials working quail, rabbit, etc.,
during his most colourful career as a hunting dog from 1956 to 1967, until he was accidentally
killed in a road accident.
As well as Panther’s 31 wins in gundog trials, he has been placed 34 times with 8 of these
being in Field and Retriever Trial Championship Stakes. His overall total placing’s in trials
(win & places) amount to 65 in all.
