FOUNDATIONS IN LEAN THINKING AND IMPLEMENTATION
This two day instructor led program provides participants with an overview of the core
principles of Lean thinking and outlines the essential Lean tools and practices that can be
applied across an organization’s supply chain to increase service efficiency and quality,
improve satisfaction and reduce waste.

It aims to create not only a proficient level of Lean awareness, but an understanding of the
benefits that can be achieved by following Lean best practice and foundational capabilities
in the application of the essential Lean tools covered in the program.

Relevant case studies and scenarios are provided throughout to provide a context for the
topics covered, while participants undertake a Lean role-play game to gain a greater
understanding of the principles that underpin the philosophy.

Participants on this workshop will also develop high level current state value stream maps
of specific supply chain processes. The maps will depict information and activity flow and
indicate value-added and non-value-added activities. Once the participants have developed
the maps, the trainer will support teams in carrying out analysis to identify bottlenecks,
redundancies, poor layouts, inefficient flow, defects, points of dissatisfaction and
inappropriate workforce issues.

CERTIFICATION & ASSESSMENT
Participants are required to complete a 60 minute multiple-choice examination consisting of 40 questions. A Certificate is awarded
to all those who successfully pass the examination.
