Be
Inspired!
Why did you choose Curtin Sarawak over other institutions?
I chose Curtin University Sarawak because there is a large selection of studies, good
lecturers and the nice study environment far from distractions. The university also
offers a variety of studies available to students which satisfies most of the current
needs of students.
Did you join any programs offered by the University and how did these
experiences prepare you for your next career step?
I joined a couple of programs while I was in the university and the most interesting one
was the CPA Entrepreneurship Challenge where it gave a lot of experience to me and
my mates. The CPA challenges us to pitch our business idea and to go for it. The
program exposed us to things we couldn’t learn in the class room. Overall, it was quite
a challenge but eventually we held out throughout the competition and we were well
rewarded by winning the first place!
What was your most memorable moment as a student aside from the knowledge
and experience you learn in Curtin Sarawak?
Now this is quite an interesting question. The most memorable moment throughout the
years I’ve studied have to be the time that I’ve spend with my circle of friends. The
University gave me the chance to interact with students not only from Malaysia, but it
opened the doors for me to get to know people from multiple regions of the world.
What kind of career-focused transferable skills have you acquired through your program and how does these skills helped you in your future career?
In Curtin Sarawak, the timetable of the classes are set by the university itself and we have to arrange our times accordingly. With that I develop skills to actually
organise myself ahead of time. By doing so, I can pin point when is my free time where I can wind down and have some me time!
How will your Curtin Sarawak education get you where you want and do you feel you are prepared for the next challenge?
I got into Curtin with one goal in mind. I grew up learning to cook and eating delicious food and that sparked the drive to actually own a business in the food
industry. But before I could run my business properly, I need some information for myself to utilise for the business. As such, I’ve enrolled into one of the Bachelor
of Commerce majors which was Entrepreneurship and Marketing. With the 3 years I went into my degree, I had learnt multiple skills to see how certain things work
and gave me different perspective on how to solve the problems that arises in a situation.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to potential students that are considering to enrol at Curtin Sarawak?
Enter the university with an open mind. You can learn lots of things if you have a broad perspective. You can learn new things easily and make all of your experiences much more enjoyable. Which also leads me to another piece of advice, enjoy yourself! Going into a university is a great experience, so go out and enjoy all
the things that you experience to the fullest!
