The cost to attend this seminar is free,
however, registration is required.
Rain screen wall systems, also called ventilated facades,
have become popular building enclosures to fulfill
contemporary architectural design parameters. This
program investigates the building science and evolution of
wall theory from mass walls to drainage and cavity walls;
finally to both pressurized and non-pressurized rain
screen wall systems. It includes information on building
codes, basic rain screen history and principals, details,
various light gauge sub-frame systems, moisture control,
energy efficiency, construction guidelines, installation
techniques, sustainability and completed project
examples. Rain screen claddings such as terra cotta, thin
stone, porcelain stone, masonry units, calcium silicate,
glass fiber reinforced concrete, composites, laminates and
others will be reviewed.

The second half of the program will include information on
quantity survey, estimating and bidding rain screen wall
systems with specific examples for terra cotta, porcelain
stone panels and GFRC panels.

Many types of rain screen wall systems have been
constructed by BAC/IMI member contractors and
craftworkers. We all recognize the significant amount of
contract work and hours this type of work represents. IMI
is offering this educational and training certification course
in an effort to enable our contractors and craftworkers to
become successful installers of rain screen wall systems.
EDUCATION CREDITS:
This course is eligible for IMI Contractor College
credit. Attendees will receive a certificate of
attendance.
After the webinar, those in attendance at the District
Council Training Center will have the opportunity to view
four different rainscreen wall systems.
