1-RBI and ECB signed MoU on cooperation in Central Banking
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the European Central Bank (ECB) on 12 January 2015 signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) for cooperation in the field of central banking.
The MoU was signed by RBI Governor Dr. Raghuram Rajan and ECB President Dr. Mario Dragh
Feature of the Memorandum of Understanding
It provides a framework for regular exchange of information, policy dialogue and technical cooperation between the
two institutions
Technical cooperation may take the form of joint seminars and workshops in areas of mutual interest in the field of
central banking
Knowledge is Wealth
The Reserve Bank of India was set up based on the recommendations Hilton–Young Commission.
The Hilton-Young Commission is also known as 1926 Royal Commission on Indian Currency and Finance.
The Head Quarters of RBI is at Mumbai.
The Reserve Bank has two training colleges for its officers. i.e. Reserve Bank Staff College at Chennai, Tamilnadu and
College of Agricultural Banking at Pune, Maharashtra.
The Head Quarters of European Central Bank is at Frankfurt, Germany.
2-India and Australia signed MoU for skill and infrastructural development in sports
The Sport Education Development Australia (SEDA) and India's Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Limited (IL-FS)
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 13 January 2015. The agreement was signed by the Australian Minister for
Trade and Investment Andrew Robb.
The MoU is aimed at developing the skills of Indian students in various sports and infrastructure as well.
Highlights of the MoU
The partnership is expected to encourage the development of sports and fitness vocational courses in India.
SEDA's experience in vocational education programs will help provide Indian students with the specialist skills and
experience that they need to gain for employment in the sports.
The partnership aims to impart training to youngsters in 350 centres across India in 25-26 states.
3-Melbourne University signs MoU with IIM-A

Melbourne University signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad
(IIM-A) for faculty and student exchange programme. The MoU was signed by Australian Minister for Trade and
Investment- Andrew Robb at IIM-A.
Robb visited IIM-A as part of his visit to Vibrant Gujarat summit earlier this week. He was leading a delegation of about
450 businessmen to the summit. As per the sources, the minister interacted with the students and along with the
delegation took a tour of the campus

4-India signed MoU with South Africa for developing Youth Enterprises
A public sector enterprise under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, National Small Industries
Corporation Limited (NSIC) on 19 January 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of Cooperation with the Black
Business Council (BBC) of South Africa.
The MoU was signed during the Conference on Cooperation in MSME Sector organized by NSIC and the High Commission of
India in cooperation with Black Business Council.
Highlights of the agreement
The agreement was signed for developing youth owned enterprises in South Africa.
The MoU, besides cooperation in MSME sector, also focuses on BBC's efforts to economically empower the marginalized
group in South Africa through NSIC's Rapid Incubation Programme.
BBC plans to establish 5 Rapid Incubation Centres in South Africa in cooperation with NSIC.
India-South Africa
India-South Africa cooperation is about sharing knowledge and expertise, exchange of best practices, supporting
innovation and building capacity and skills.
The two nations have great prospects for synergizing their complementarities in areas of industry, services, trade and
technology especially in the field of Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
South Africa as a member of Southern African Development Community can be a good partner for Indian businesses.
Similarly, India offers South African companies an excellent location for addressing the huge domestic Indian market as
well as the wider Asian market.
5-India and Hong Kong SAR sign Agreement on Transfer of Sentenced Persons

India on twenty January 2015 signed an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons with Hong Kong SAR (Special
administrative Region).
Under the agreement, the two sides can exchange sentenced prisoners in every other s jurisdiction. The agreement will
mostly apply to Indian prisoners as there are very few Hong Kong residents in Indian prisons.
There are at present ninety three Indians in Hong Kong jails. Only seventeen of them are undergoing sentence for
serious crimes like drug dealing whereas most of the remaining prisoners have been jailed for relatively minor offenses
like immigration law violation.
The two sides have been engaged in discussions on this issue for a long time and it is only currently that an agreement
has been reached. The agreement will add to the existing framework of institutional cooperation between the two sides.
India has similar agreements on exchange of prisoners with several different countries but none with mainland china.
6-RBI signed an MoU on Supervisory Cooperation with Banco Central do Brasil

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Supervisory Cooperation and
Exchange of Supervisory )nformation with Brazil s Central Bank, Banco Central do Brasil BCB on

The information related to MoU was announced by RBI through its notification released on 27 January 2015.
The MoU was signed by Anthero de Moraes Meirelles, Deputy Governor for Supervision, BCB and SS Mundra, Deputy
Governor, Reserve Bank of India.
The Reserve Bank has been signing the Memorandum of Understanding/ Exchange of Letters/Statement of Cooperation
with supervisors of other countries to promote greater co-operation and sharing of supervisory information
among the authorities.
With this the Reserve Bank has signed 23 such MoUs, one Letter for Supervisory Cooperation and one Statement of
Cooperation (SoC) with regulators/supervisors of other countries.
7-SBI’s loan agreement with European Investment Bank (UIB)

State Bank of India (SBI) on twenty three January 2015 signed a loan agreement for one hundred million euro with the
European Investment Bank (EIB).
EIB is a long-term lending institution of the European Union. The agreement was signed on nineteen January 2015. The
agreement was facilitated by SBI Capital Markets.
The loan will be used to support the private sector s development—in particular small and medium-sized enterprises,
social and economic infrastructure as well as global climate change mitigation and adaptation in India. The EIB funds
will be earmarked for financing projects across a broad range of sectors, together with producing, as well as wholesale
and retail trade and services.
This is third tranche of a total sanction of two hundred million euro by European Investment Bank (EIB). A 1st tranche
of fifty five million euro and second tranche of forty five million euro were signed in June 2014 and November 2014
respectively.

8-Karnataka State Government to sign MoU with German Govt for ITI students

The Government of Karnataka is all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the German Government
to train students of the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state. This would enable the students to develop their
multi-disciplinary skills and get prone to the job market.
The Labour Minister of Karnataka, P T Parameshwar Naik said that the first round of discussions regarding the MoU has
been done and the authorities are soon to finalize all the required documentations for the understanding.

do not remain unemployed after passing out from it is.
The government will set up four skill development centres around the state in the four revenue divisions. These centres
would help the students to hone their skills during their years in the institutes. The understanding is aimed at giving job
opportunities to the students after they finish their courses, to reduce unemployment.

9-Union Cabinet approved MoU on Tourism between India and Oman
Union Cabinet on 28 January 2015 approved Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tourism between India and Oman.
The MoU will strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism between tourism ministries of both the countries.
The main objectives of the MoU are to

• Exchange information and data related to tourism
• Encourage cooperation between tourism stakeholders including hotels and tour operators

10-Gujarat Handloom Corporation inks MoU with eBay

Gujarat State Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation (GSHHDC) has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with global e-commerce giant eBay.
The main objective of this MoU is to expand sales base of handloom and handicraft products of Gujarat to online market
from current retail shop sales.
In order to increase the online market share, GSHHDC is also planning to launch its own e-commerce portal under
Garvi-Gurjari brand to reach out to a bigger customer base and boost sales in overseas markets.
GSHHDC is also planning to tie-up with domestic e-commerce majors as Flipkart and Snapdeal.
As of now, GS((DC s sales are from offline market through their
showrooms and exhibitions across )ndia. As
expansion plan, GS((DC s within next three years is aiming to open
stores.
11-India, Spain sign Agreement on Mutual Protection of Classified information on 5th March 2015

India and Spain on five March 2015 signed an agreement on Mutual Protection of Classified information to supply the
framework for enhanced bilateral cooperation in areas of defence research, development and technology cooperation.
The two sides have in agreement to provide framework for increased bilateral cooperation within the areas of defence,
development and technology cooperation. The Agreement was signed by the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and
his Spanish counterpart Pedro Morenes Eulate.
Spain has evinced keen interest in being a part of India's "Make-in-India" initiative in defence sector and of the Project
P75I, a project under which India plans to make six conventional submarines for Indian Navy.

12-MoU signed between CSIR-NCL and SPMCIL
CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (CSIR-NCL) on 5 February 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Ltd (SPMCIL).
The MoU is aimed at fostering collaboration on research and exchange of technical expertise in areas of material
sciences and testing capabilities for bank notes, security documents and coins.
The MoU was signed by Sourav Pal, Director of CSIR-NCL and Rakesh Kumar, Additional General Manager of SPMCIL.
The MoU seeks to explore printing innovations. It ascertained the research projects within the focus areas of SPMC)L s
requirements and domain expertise available at CSIR-NCL.

13-Adani Enterprises Ltd, Rajasthan Government inks MoU to develop 10,000 MW solar parks

Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) and Rajasthan Government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for
developing solar parks in state with a capacity of 10,000 MW.
In this regard, both AEL and state owned Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) have agreed to
form a joint venture (JV) to develop these solar parks in state within next ten years. Of these, solar parks of 5,000 MW
capacity will be developed in the next five years.
JV of both companies will set up the solar parks, which will include generation projects and a manufacturing unit for
solar module, parts and equipment.
Once set up, these solar parks will include solar power projects and manufacturing unit for solar module, parts and
equipment in Rajasthan.
After completion, these solar park will produce clean & green energy of approximately 16,644 million units, furthering
)ndia s goals for clean, renewable energy independence and reduce carbon footprint by approximately . MT.

List of Agreements/MoUs signed during the State Visit of the President of Sri Lanka to India:
(i). Agreement between Sri Lanka and India on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy.
The Agreement would facilitate cooperation in the transfer and exchange of knowledge and expertise, sharing of resources,
capacity building and training of personnel in peaceful uses of nuclear energy including use of radioisotopes, nuclear safety,
radiation safety, nuclear security, radioactive waste management and nuclear and radiological disaster mitigation and
environmental protection.
(ii). Programme of Cultural Cooperation between Sri Lanka and India for the years 2015 - 18.
The Programme of Cultural Cooperation for 2015-18 seeks to enhance the level of cooperation in a wide variety of fields such
as performing arts, visual arts, libraries, museums, archives & cultural documentation, archaeology,
handicrafts, publications and professional exchanges
(iii) MoU on the Establishment of Nalanda University.
The MoU would enable Sri Lanka to participate in the Nalanda University Project.
(iv) Work-Plan 2014-2015 under the MoU on Cooperation in the field of Agriculture between India and Sri Lanka.
The Work Plan would facilitate bilateral cooperation in Agro Processing, Agricultural extension, horticulture, agricultural
machinery, training in farm mechanization, livestock diseases, etc. between relevant institutes and organizations from both
countries.
15-Australia and India signed MoU for Improving Disability Programme

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) which is an Indian public-private health organization, signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with University of Melbourne, in order to improve the status of the disability
programme launched by the body.
India and Australia is already in ties with each other in the field of health. This MoU would further strengthen the tie-up
and include newer methods and implementations of programmes. The signing of the MoU took place in the national
capital Delhi.
Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Melbourne Sue Elliott said that the agreement was a great opportunity which
would allow both the institutions to share their expertise in the field of public health and research.
In the MoU there would be focus in a three year programme that would be aided by Australia. It would be fit in to the
establishment of an institute of health and family welfare in Uttarakhand and a flagship course on public health
leadership. There would be emphasis on the collaborative research, academic exchanges visits, and collaborative
association between the two universities in regional and global forums throughout the academic year. This would help
students get global exposure and healthy learning opportunities.

16-Lupin ties up with Poland-based Celon Pharma for generic asthama drug

Mumbai-based drug major Lupin on seventeen Feb 2015 pact with Poland-based Celon Pharma to jointly develop and
market a generic version GlaxoSmithKline s Advair Diskus, a drug used to treat asthama, in global markets.
Under the agreement, both the businesses houses will jointly develop fluticasone/salmeterol dry powder inhaler (DPI)
product which may be a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline s Advair Diskus. But Celon will provide the product to
Lupin for its commercialisation in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and other key markets.
The collaboration is a vital milestone in Lupin s efforts to evolve its international inhalation pipeline. Lupin s expertise
in inhalation development and commercialisation in the United States and other markets will accelerate the
development of generic Advair Diskus for global markets.
GlaxoSmithKline s Advair Diskus had global sales of over seven billion United States dollar in fiscal year
-15.
For the development of inhalation product, Lupin has set up a dedicated centre of excellence for inhalation research in
Florida and has been ramping up investments in niche and speciality therapies.

17-KVIC, RSETIS signed MoU to provide vocational training to unemployed youth

The Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on 20 February 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) with the Monitoring Cell for Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs).
KVIC is under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and RSETI is under the Union Ministry of Rural
Development.
The MoU was signed by BH Anil Kumar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Commissioner for KVIC and KN Janardhana,
Chief Project Co-ordinator of Monitoring Cell for RSETIs.
The MoU was signed to enhance the business skills and project-related skills of the beneficiaries under Prime Minister s
Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and improve the viability of the PMEGP project which is being
implemented by KVIC.
As part of the MoU
• RSET)s will carry out Entrepreneurship Development Programme EDP training of PMEGP beneficiaries.
• Monitoring Cell for RSET)s/RUDSET)s will ensure hand holding for trainees, project formulation and guidance up to a
period of two years including arranging for bank loan sanction.
• Monitoring Cell for RSET)s will also prepare district-wise model project reports for benefit of beneficiaries.
• Monitoring Cell for RSETIs will utilize infrastructure of KVIC Departmental Training Centres for their skill
development courses as per requirement on payment of charges.
• RSET)s will also organize workshop jointly with KV)C at district level for officials of Banks to sensitize them on
PMEGP.
MoU was signed for an initial period of three years and the performance under the MoU will be reviewed after 2 years.
Further, trainees having undergone skill development programme at RSETIs & Rural Development and Self
Employment Training Institutes (RUDSETI) will be provided a higher rating in District Level Task Force Committee
(DLTFC) of PMEGP for their selection.
18-RUAG Aerostructures in pact with Tata firm to supply components for airbus 320

Europe-based global supplier and aero-structure components integrator RUAG Aerostructures has entered into a multiyear
contract with Tata group s TAL Manufacturing Solutions, for manufacture and supply of aero-structural
components and sub-assemblies.
RUAG Aerostructures and Tata group firm TAL manufacturing Solutions on seventeen Feb 2015 signed a multi-year
contract price over one hundred fifty million U.S. dollar.
Under the agreement, both the businesses joined hands for the production and supply of aero structural components
and sub-assemblies for airbus 320 programme.
As part of the contract, TAL will manufacture and supply over 550 sheet metal components, machined parts and
subassemblies
to RUAG for airbus A320 programme.
TAL manufacturing Solutions, a subsidiary of Tata Motors, is in commercial and defence aerospace manufacturing.
RUAG is an international supplier and integrator of components for civil and military aerospace applications and is
based in Germany and Switzerland.
19-RCom and Twitter make pact for six-week ICC World Cup 2015

Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications (RCom) on seventeen February 2015 inked a pact with micro blogging
website Twitter to permit its subscribers to access it for free and stay connected and engaged during the six-week ICC
World Cup 2015.
As per the deal, RCom customers can engage with players, commentators and celebrities watch exclusive photos and
videos, stay updated with the latest scores without incurring any data charges.
Further the deal will allow customers without twitter accounts to access cricket-related tweets by logging on to
www.rcom.co.in/cricket on their mobile phones throughout the duration of this global event between thirteen
February and thirty one March 2015.

20-Indian Army and State Bank of India inked MoU on Defence Salary Package
The Indian Army and State Bank of India (SBI) on 23 February 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the
Defence Salary Package.
The MoU is tailor-made to suit the requirements of serving soldiers, pensioners and families. The revised MoU has
incorporated a number of additional facilities and basic features of the MoU include
• Number of free/concessional services like free drafts, free cheque books, free funds transfers to any bank in India through
RTGS / NEFT, free ATM cards and others
• The provision also includes the Nepal Express Remittance Scheme which enables instant fund transfers to Nepal for the
benefit of the Nepali Domicile Gorkha Soldiers serving in the Indian Army.
• Personal Accident )nsurance PA) was enhanced and was linked to the Savings account instead of the debit card.
• Exemption percentage of margin money for house and car loans was enhanced while the processing charges on the loans
were waved off.
21-Andhra Pradesh signed MoU with Wipro for building and implementing APSEA

The revised MoU will benefit 19.5 lakh pensioners and 10 lakh serving personnel who hold Pay or Pension accounts
with SBI. The beneficiaries will be provided an opportunity to access modern banking facilities.
The signing ceremony was chaired by the Adjutant General, Lt Gen Rakesh Sharma and was attended by top dignitaries
of SBI Bank, headed by Dr Vaidyan MG, Dy MD (Retail Strategy).
The first MoU between the Indian Army and SBI was signed in 2011 and was valid for a period of three years.
Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government on 23 February 2015 signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wipro for
building and implementing the AP State Enterprise Architecture (APSEA).
The APSEA is aimed at bringing transformational change in the way government services are conceived, designed,
delivered and consumed.

• )t intends to make the state government future-ready by changing from departmental stovepipes to a citizen-centred
approach to government services achieved through transformation of the front, middle and back office operation.
• )t would prove to be an essential tool for the development of Andhra Pradesh. The vision of the state of Andhra Pradesh is to
use e-governance as a tool to provide integrated services to its citizens through a free flow of information.
• )t necessitates collaborative working and information sharing between departments, forming a virtual/digital network of
departments organised around citizen services and their outcomes.
• )t will follow a multi-level approach to account for different layers of government bodies. To ensure relevancy and
pragmatism, government services will be taken up progressively, based on their priority.
• Service delivery would be supported by deep collaboration between departments in terms of information flow, application
interaction and common infrastructures.
• Services would be evaluated for actual outcomes, rather than outputs.
22-India Bangla Desh agreed for Joint Border Patrolling to act against criminals and smugglers

India and Bangla Desh on seventeen February 2015 determined to step up joint patrolling along the boundary to act
against criminals and smugglers. The coordinated border management plan will also facilitate in enhancing cooperation
between the 2 nations.
The decision was taken at the India-Bangladesh Joint working group meeting and the Home Secretary-level talks held in
New Delhi on 16-17 February 2015. The Indian delegation was led by Union Home Secretary LC Goyal whereas the
Bangladeshi delegation was led by Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs Mozammel Haque Khan.
Agreements and decisions made during the meet include
India and Bangla desh agreed to vigil on the border by deployment of troops of Bangla desh in unguarded border areas
of Bangladesh, significantly along the borders facing Tripura and Mizoram.
India and Bangla desh agreed to act against the criminals engaged in human trafficking from Bangla Desh to India and
other countries.

23-Mumbai University signed MoU with Indian Railways to set up Rail Innovation and Technology Centre
Mumbai University on 23 February 2015 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railways to set up a
Rail Innovation and Technology Centre to train students for expertise in Railway Engineering.

This agreement will help United Nations )nternational Children s Emergency Fund UN)CEF to tap into Airtel s mobile

26-Russia, Cyprus sign military cooperation agreement

Russia and Cyprus have signed a military cooperation deal, under which Russian navy ships will be permitted to make
regular port calls at the island country. The agreement was signed following talks between Russian President Vladimir
Putin and his visiting Cypriot counterpart, Nicos Anastasiades, in the capital town of Moscow on twenty fifth February
2015, Wednesday.
The new deal reportedly permits Russian navy ships to use ports in Cyprus to replenish supplies and undergo
maintenance.
The Moscow-Nicosia agreement came as the Russian federation has been hit with a series of sanctions by the USA and
the EU over the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Kiev and its Western allies accuse Moscow of supporting pro-Russia forces
in eastern Ukraine. The Kremlin categorically denies the allegation.


Union Government and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) signed an agreement on monetary Policy Framework. The
agreement was signed on twenty February 2015 but was made public on 2 March 2015.
The agreement empowers the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to go for inflation targeting that is common in developed

Union Government and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on twenty February 2015 signed an agreement on monetary Policy
Framework. As per the agreement, RBI accepted to concentrate on flexible inflation targeting.
Inflation targeting is defined as an economic policy in which a central bank estimates or decides for a medium-term
target inflation rate.
In Indian context, as per the agreement, inflation targeting means that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will have to

31-Indian Railways signed MoU with LIC for implementing Railway projects

Indian Railways on 11 March 2015 signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Life Insurance Corporation of
India (LIC) to augment its resources for speedier execution of projects. The MoU was signed by Rajalakshmi Ravikumar,
Financial Commissioner (Railways) and SK Roy, Chairman of LIC.
Under this MoU, LIC will make available a Financial Assistance of 150000 crore rupees to the Indian Railways for
implementing Railway projects over the next five years. The Financial Assistance will be available from the Financial
Year 2015-16.
LIC will invest in bonds issued by various railway entities such as Indian Railways Finance Corporation. There will be a
5 year moratorium in interest and loan repayment. The bonds will have a tenor of 30 years and will be disbursed over
the next five years.
In his Budget Speech 2015-16, Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu had announced his intention of meeting a part of
the total Plan Budget of 100011 crore rupees through extra budgetary resources, such as market borrowings by
tapping low cost long term funds.

35-Union Sports Ministry signed MoU with IIFCL to support TOP Scheme for Badminton
Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) on 31 March 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) to support Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOP) Scheme
for Badminton sport.
Under the MOU, IIFCL shall contribute 30 crore rupees to the TOP Scheme under its initiatives for Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR). IIFCL have contributed 10 crore rupees so far.

38-CII and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed MoU to deepen
partnership
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 6 April 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the European Bank
for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to deepen partnership between Indian companies and the bank in those countries
where the bank has operations.
It was signed by the CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and EBRD Vice-President Phil Bennett at a session on Inclusive
Business: The Way Forward as part of the National Conference and Annual Session 2015 held by the CII in New Delhi.
Under the MoU, the EBRD countries of operations would benefit from the transfer of skills from world-class Indian companies.

39-Dena Bank inked MoU with Life Insurance Corporation
Dena Bank on 6 April 2015 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India to
provide insurance cover to all Aadhaar-linked savings account holders of the bank in the age group of 18 to 50 years.
The insurance cover will be provided under the Prime Minister s Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana PMJBY scheme.

The reserve bank of India (RBI) on twenty five March 2015 signed a four hundred million U.S. dollar currency swap
agreement with the central bank of Sri Lanka. The agreement is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of signing.
According to the agreement, the central bank of Sri Lanka will can make withdrawals of U.S. dollar or euro in multiple
tranches up to a maximum of four hundred million U.S. dollar or its equivalent.
This agreement will further economic co-operation between the 2 countries and also bring in more financial stability
within the region.
The Currency Swap Agreement with Sri Lanka was inked in backdrop of the announcement of May- 2012 by the RBI
Governor throughout the SAARCF)NANCE Governor s meeting, control in Nepal. At the meeting, Reserve Bank of )ndia
(RBI) had offered swap facilities aggregating 2 billion U.S. dollar, both in foreign currency and Indian rupee to
neighbouring countries of the SAARC region.
This facility will be available to all South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries, that is,
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The swap arrangement is meant to provide a backstop line of funding for the SAARC member countries to meet any


Online search giant Google on five April 2015 entered into a strategic partnership with consulting firm
PricewaterhouseCoopers to focus on Digital India scheme and large enterprise deals. With the Indian partnership,
Google desires to push itself into giant e-governance scheme and improve the sales for its cloud services in India.
PwC has already built a 30-member team to look after such projects and is using its 1800-people technology team in
India to develop industry-specific solutions designed on Google platforms.
Google is already working with the govt. on many projects, including MyGov, the citizen engagement platform of the
govt. of India, to launch a nationwide contest to build a mobile app.
While Google has been fairly successful in reaching out to small and medium businesses in India, it still finds the going
tough when it involves cracking projects at large companies where its competitor Microsoft has a stronghold.
Microsoft in the end of March 2015 declared a similar partnership with KPMG to include a global collaboration to

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to deepen partnership between Indian companies and the
bank in those countries where the bank has operations.
It was signed by the CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and EBRD Vice-President Phil Bennett at a session on
comprehensive Business: The way forward as part of the National Conference and Annual Session 2015 organised by
the CII in New Delhi.
Under the MoU, the EBRD countries of operations would benefit from the transfer of skills from world-class Indian
firms. On the other hand, EBRD will be sharing its strong local knowledge with Indian companies that are either moving
into the EBRD regions for the 1st time which need to expand their operations in those countries.
The bank has already made 1 billion United States dollar investments together with Indian companies and the MoU will
help to utilize huge untapped potential in the Indian private sector.

Sri Lankan President Sirisena is on a day visit to Pakistan and this is Sirisena s st visit to Pakistan since he assumed the

mainly on trade. Regional and international problems with mutual interest were also part of the discussions.

The most important among the six agreement signed was the agreement on atomic energy. Even though Pakistan and Sri Lanka
have traditionally enjoyed strong ties, particularly over defence, but the signing of agreement on atomic energy with Pakistan
one month after the signing of agreement on nuclear cooperation with India highlights the focus which the new regime in Sri
Lanka is putting on build its 1st nuclear plant.
Pakistan has 3 operational nuclear plants that generated a total of around 740 MW of power. it has also begun work on building
2 more nuclear plants, including a 2200-megawatt station that is being built along the Arabian sea coast at Paradise Beach,
forty kilometres west of Karachi with the help of Chinese assistance.

State government of Sikkim on 20 January 2015 inked Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with governments of the
Netherlands and Thailand for development of floriculture in the state. This deal will help the state to reach out to the

India and Canada on fifteen Apr 2015 signed a nuclear agreement on supply of Uranium to India. The agreement was signed
between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
PM Modi is on a three-day official visit to Canada, which is the 1st bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister in forty two years.
What is the nuclear agreement?
As a part of the agreement, Canadian Cameco Corporation will provide 7.1 million pounds of Uranium concentrate to

. The deal is of
million American dollars. The Uranium will be sourced from Cameco s operations in
northern Saskatchewan.
Cameco Corporation, the World's largest Uranium producer, will make 1st deliveries in late 2015 and the pricing will be

Why it is of importance to India?
The Uranium agreement is part of deal that took effect in 2013 and it is of great importance to India strategically and
economically.
At present, India is the fourth largest client of energy in the world and it uses nuclear power for three p.c of its
electricity. However, under the planned Energy Revolution, India hopes to extend that number to twenty five p.c by
2050.
Besides, the Uranium agreement signifies a new era of bilateral co-operation between India and Canada which turned

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) and Russian company INTMA on fifteen April 2015 signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) to set up a gas-based power project in Kazakhstan.
According to the MoU, the 2 parties will endeavour to assist one another within the implementation of the deal.
The MoU aims to set forth a path to combine the BHEL's ability in design and manufacturing of power plants and INTMA's
strength in handling EPC contracts so as to bid and execute projects of mutual interest in Russia and Kazakhstan.


Andhra Pradesh (AP) government on seventeen April 2015 entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
IISL Company. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), IISL will replace the existing streetlights in thirteen
municipalities with led lights and maintain them for seven years.
