When Robert Ingersoll, the notorious skeptic, was in his heyday, two college students went
to hear him lecture. As they walked down the street after the lecture, one said to the other,
“Well, I guess he knocked the props out from under Christianity, didn’t he?” The other said,
“No, I don’t think he did. Ingersoll did not explain my mother’s life, and until he can

A four-year-old and a six-year-old presented their Mom with a house plant. They had used
their own money and she was thrilled. The older of them said with a sad face, "There was a
bouquet that we wanted to give you at the flower shop. It was real pretty, but it was too
expensive. It had a ribbon on it that said, 'Rest In Peace,' and we thought it would be just
perfect since you are always asking for a little peace so that you can rest."

asked her to name the greatest persons she had ever met. She responded, 'The greatest
persons I have ever met are those nobody knows anything about.'
"Once the New York Times was asked to help a group of club women decide on the twelve
greatest women in the United States. After due consideration, the editors replied, 'The
twelve greatest women in the United States are women who have never been heard of
outside of their own homes.'"
Jones concludes, "I ask you, who was greater, Thomas A. Edison or his mother? When he
was a young lad his teacher sent him home with a note which said, 'Your child is dumb. We
can't do anything for him.' Mrs. Edison wrote back, 'You do not understand my boy. I will
teach him myself'. And she did, with results that are well known.

Years ago, a young mother was making her way across the hills of South Wales, carrying
her tiny baby in her arms, when she was overtaken by a blinding blizzard. She never reached
her destination and when the blizzard had subsided her body was found by searchers
beneath a mound of snow. But they discovered that before her death, she had taken off all
her outer clothing and wrapped it about her baby. When they unwrapped the child, to their
great surprise and joy, they found he was alive and well. She had mounded her body over
his and given her life for her child, proving the depths of her mother love. Years later that
child, David Lloyd George, grown to manhood, became prime minister of Great Britain,
and, without doubt, one of England’s greatest statesman.

m&m’s…The end of another year of Wednesday night and
AWANA activities is fast approaching. I know the children have learned
valuable lessons during these programs this year. I know that all the work
done in teaching each of these children has not been done in vain. I have
visited in all of these activities and have seen the enthusiasm in each
child’s face. I have talked with children and felt the commitment they
are making to share the Gospel.
Deuteronomy 6:20 ask a very real question for today’s parents.

“When your son asks you in time to come, ‘What is the
meaning of the testimonies and the statutes and the rules that the LORD
our God has commanded you?’
As a parent, what would be your answer? This question was originally
referred to when the Jewish parents were to talk about their captivity in
Egypt. However, I think this question has a very important message for
today’s parents. Could you explain why Jesus had to be born and die on a
cross? Could you explain the purpose of the Church and how we, as
Christians, are responsible to spread the Gospel?
You may be surprised in learning that children want to know the answers
to these questions and many more like them. Children want to know that
Go d lo ve s th e m i n a s p e ci a l wa y a n d fo r a
special purpose. It becomes very difficult to express that love if we have
not experienced it for ourselves. Children are our
barometer for telling the truth and understand what we as adults are
passionate about.
Come and worship with us and help your children see the same Christ
you see. Help children to ask for forgiveness from sin by showing how
we can forgive others when we feel wronged. Make Christ a priority in
your life so He can become a priority in a child’s life.
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me” in Matthew 19:13-15, can we
not do the same?

Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on
them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let
the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs
the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went
away.

donate it to our “White Dress Closet” so that another
G.A. can borrow it? If so, please call Lucy Cook, at

time for you to bring them. These dresses will be loaned
to our G.A.’s each year and washed and returned to our

If you have a white G.A. Recognition Service dress that
your G.A. has outgrown, would you be willing to
donate it to our “White Dress Closet” so that another
G.A. can borrow it? If so, please call Lucy Cook, at
407-9418, or your G.A. Leaders and we will arrange a
time for you to bring them. These dresses will be loaned
to our G.A.’s each year and washed and returned to our
closet after each program. If you feel lead to donate
your dresses to our closet, we will appreciate your
generosity more than you know.
