Green Dot Day
Green Dot Day Thursday, April 30, 2015 What is Your Green Dot? MCTC can lead the way in the creation of confident, knowledgeable community members who are committed to violence prevention. Green Dot is a program that gives every one of us the opportunity to reduce or prevent violence in our community—including physical abuse, stalking, or harassment/bullying—by becoming active rather than passive bystanders in the face of potential violence. The success of our community is at stake. A Green Dot is any behavior‚ choice‚ word‚ or attitude that promotes safety for all of us and communicates utter intolerance for violence. A Green Dot is your individual commitment to counteracting red dots, or moments when words, choices, or actions contribute to or tolerate PowerBased Personal Violence. Any intervention that reduces the likelihood of violence, any time one of us stands up to say "violence is not okay" -- that moment is a Green Dot. If you do your small part, and others do their small part, we can all make a difference in preventing Power-Based Interpersonal violence at MCTC and in the community. We are grateful for your willingness to be a part of the Green Dot movement on our campus. We hope that the time we spend together helps you to generate ideas on how to do your own Green Dots as well as Green Dots for the college and out Neighborhood. After the April 30 events, the next Green Dot Day is November 18, 2015. If you have found this connection to be useful we encourage you to join our movement.
