ANALYSING THE PROBLEM STATEMENT
Six criteria on which rating of NIT Ranchi will be done are- Faculty, Facilities,
Security, Placements, Infrastructure and Vision (i.e. Future Plans/Projects with
detailed analysis)
First of all, we need to focus on what we have 120 acres of land acquired from the government.
 Institute building with theoretical classrooms for all students.
 6 boys hostel (250 seater each) and 2 girls hostel (200 seater each).
 A computer centre and a central library.
Now, what we don’t have








Faculties are slightly short-handed.
Fluid Mechanics Lab- Civil and Mechanical department.
Artificial intelligence lab in computer science department
XRD Lab- Metallurgy and Materials engineering.
Number of systems in Computer centre is not enough to support poolcampusing.
Modern Central Library.
Number of hostels are not adequate as per intake.
Proper playground or indoor stadium.
Boundary Wall
And to achieve the above objectives we are bound within two constraints1. Time- 8 months.
2. Total Costs< Rs. 60 crore
Because of these boundations, our approach will be towards achieving academic excellence
first and a parallel approach for improving college infrastructure, as academic improvement
will take lesser time to carry about.
PROPOSED DETAILED SOLUTION
 ACHIEVING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

For this, we will appoint ad-hoc faculty members for concerned departmentsi.e. 5 new faculty per department( 7 engg. Department and other deptt. Like
humanities , chemistry, physics etc.) = 50 faculties
Initial salary to each of them=Rs. 40,000
Total budget for next 6months= Rs.40000*50*6=Rs. 1,20,00,000

3 new lab attendants per departments with Rs. 25000 per month initial
salary= Rs.25000*21*6=Rs. 31,50,000

50 fourth grade employees appointment with Rs. 15000 per month initial
salary= Rs.15000*50*6=Rs.45,00,000
Complete Process time of 2 months



6. Auditorium construction cost=Rs. 1,00,00,000
7. 10-bedded dispensary building construction cost=Rs. 75,00,000
8. Boundary wall construction cost=Rs.2,00,00,000(120 acres of land)
TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COST= Rs. 46,05,00,000
 CONCLUSION
So, this would be our blue print for the work to be done in 8 months with proper
specified time period for each task with proposed strategies and priorities i.e. initial
focus on academic improvement and a parallel attention towards infrastructure
projects.
Thus making NIT RANCHI an Institute of National Importance with World Class
academic atmosphere and Infrastructure Facilities.
