Sadly this year one of our FRIENDS is no longer with us , his name is HENRY PETER BAKER..................more popularly known as ”PETE” I met Pete over 30 years ago and from that day to this we became and remained firm friends , this was the case with all who knew him. He supported Bridgend Show accompanied by his Wife Joan with the vigour and anticipation of a man half his age , such was his enthusiasm , his friendly nature and his wit will be sorely missed by myself and my Family as i am sure is the case for ALL who knew this Gentleman from the Forest of Dean [ i know he’d want me to mention the FOREST ] There are volumes that could be said about Pete , believe me , but what i will say is this , he shared our aims and common goal here at Bridgend Show ...... FRIENDSHIP To that end we would like to present an annual Trophy in his honour which captures that Spirit that he endorsed for us so well..................it will be known as the FRIENDSHIP TROPHY and will have Pete’s name on it THANKS PETE FOR BEING OUR FRIEND . A newcomer may be someone who has always wanted to exhibit and has been unsure how too or perhaps an individual who has backyard chickens who then wants to take this pastime further. This year sees the schedule afford more space for these novices and we welcome all to take part in our exhibition. If you require any help before hand just call me on the number listed. we have each year afforded particular attention too our juvenile exhibitors and it is very rewarding to see these young people progress further, and with the right sporting ways adopted becoming Exhibitors on a National basis and hopefully remain within our fancy as they too become adults. Finally, for the last few years we experimented with a small-scale sale of poultry on the Saturday prior to show day, as this was very positive we are going to do it again, if you would like to take part in that please let me know asap.
