Audition Packet
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 GTP Dance Co. audition information
packet. I am looking forward to this year’s audition. The dance
department is better established and the GTP Dance Co. spirit is
alive. In the past we’ve performed at pep assemblies, football
games, basketball games, district events, and community events
such as Bonitafest, North Park Arts Fest and our annual Spring
Dance Concert.
Although past dance experience is highly recommended, it is not a
requirement. Most importantly, they must have a passion for
dance, a desire to learn, an outstanding attitude and a flawless
commitment to their team.
Filling out this packet in a complete manner will show your
attention to detail and responsibility.
Be part of a BVH legacy that forms strong friendships, great
performers and creative minds. See you soon!

GTP Dance Team Auditions
1. Read the audition packet and forms thoroughly – they should
answer most of your questions. Part of this audition process
is how well you follow directions and how excited and
interested you are in being a part of the dance team.
2. On Thursday, April 23rd from 3:30-6:30 there will be a
mandatory Audition Workshop in the Dance Room. You
will be learning a dance that will be part of the audition, so
bring your dance clothes and jazz shoes. We will also be
conducting interviews during this time.
3. Friday, April 24th from 3:45-7:00 is the audition in the dance
room. Come in your dance clothes and bring your jazz shoes.
There will be additional individual interviews after the dance
audition.
4. On Friday, April 24th, the applications are due! Turn in the
following:
a. Application Form with wallet-size photo.
b. Parental Acknowledgement Form, with parent
signature.
c. Photocopy of your last progress report (April 2015)
Being prepared with the above information reflects the habits of
the person that is auditioning.
Audition Notes
Auditions will begin promptly at 3:45pm on Friday, April 24th in the BVHS Dance
Room. Your appearance tells me a lot about who you are and how interested you are in
the dance team, so make sure you look your best and present yourself as cleanly as
possible. Wear your dance clothes, remove your jewelry, tie your hair securely away
from your face and bring you dance shoes if you have any (ballet and jazz). If you don’t
have shoes you may wear socks. Street shoes are not allowed. Throw out your gum and
make sure you bring plenty of drinking water.
The dance audition will consist of a ballet barre, a jazz combination, and across the floor
combinations.
This is a closed audition. No guests are allowed. Cell phones must be off during the
audition. No talking is allowed during the audition, unless you are prompted to do so. I
expect you to behave professionally and respectfully at all times so the audition can flow.
And remember….enjoy the free dance class!
Attitude and Participation Policies
The effort and attitude of each student is expected to remain positive to the greatest
extent at all times. Factors that may affect participation in performances may include but
are not limited to:
 Ineligibility
 Tardiness to rehearsals/performances
 Excessive absences
 Negative attitude towards director and/or towards other team members
Since this is an activity class, tardies and absences to class will affect citizenship and
does affect scholarship grades. If this is the case, arrangements must be made with
director to discuss grade and future plan of action. Possible removal from the team
second semester will be considered.
Although first period starts at 7:10am, class officially begins at 6:45am. If a student
arrives after 6:45am then they will be marked tardy. PARENTS AND STUDENTS
MUST BE COMMITTED TO THIS START TIME. IF YOU CANNOT COMMIT
TO COMING TO SCHOOL AT 6:45AM, PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION. THOSE
STUDENTS THAT CANNOT COMMIT TO COMING TO CLASS ON TIME ON
A DAILY BASIS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE TEAM SECOND
SEMESTER.
Students are expected to participate in all scheduled dance team activities. Although
emergencies do happen, last minute conflicts are not acceptable.

full. If a costume is team property and borrowed, but not returned then I/we agree
to pay for the cost of replacement.

Acknowledge that if my son/daughter is accepted on the dance team, he/she is
required to attend after school rehearsals on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30, as needed
