Flyer - California Breastfeeding Coalition
Program Description Do you have questions about how new technologies impact access to lactation care? Telehealth is here to stay: come learn more about the pros and cons and what the future holds for all breastfeeding supporters. Breastfeeding beyond the first year of life is hardly a newfangled idea in the scope of human history. Here in Los Angeles County, however, only 20% of babies are breastfed for one year! Come and learn more about the evidence for longer breastfeeding duration so that you can encourage and support the families that you work with. There are many reasons why a mother may choose or need to exclusively pump breastmilk for her baby. In addition to practical information on the mechanics of milk removal when the baby isn’t at the breast, we will explore best practices for supply maintenance long-term as well as ways to provide ongoing support for this unique population. The final session will focus on the technology of processing donor milk and the evidence behind using donor milk for our most vulnerable babies.
