As a single grandmother
raising three of my
grandchildren, it can be
ends meet. The Basket
Food Pantry helped me
in my time of need, but
CareCenter has become
a family to me! My
grandchildren attend
the Community Center
programs, and I enjoy
volunteering at The
Basket every week! I truly
enjoy serving and helping
others just as CareCenter
has been there to help
me!

CareCenter was shelter,
food and a place to help
me get clean and get
my son back. But as I
completed the Bible
studies and received
discipleship, things
changed. As the layers
of pain were stripped
away, my heart opened
and I surrendered my life
to Christ. God has enabled
me to gain employment,
and opened doors to
restore my family and
complete my GED. I am
grateful to God and to
CareCenter who have
given me another chance.

I grew up in a pastor’s home and
have been in church all my life.
I always appeared to have it
together, in school, sports and later
as a professional. I was a Christian,
but inside there was a deep sense
of emptiness and pain. Overcomers
provided a safe environment of
compassion and accountability
where I could be real about who I
was and honest when I failed. It’s
been 16 years since I graduated from
Overcomers. I still have challenges,
but I don’t quit! Charles always said,
“You can’t lose if you won’t quit.” I’m
not a loser, I’m an Overcomer – it’s
who I am, not what I do.”
