COMMISION OF EXTRA ORDINARY MINISTERS OF COMMUNION
16 new extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist are being commissioned the weekend of the 11th/12th April (low
Sunday) ready for the introduction of Communion under Both Kinds at all Masses that weekend
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION 2015
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation for those young people, aged 13-14 years (Year 8) and above, from
the parishes of St Mary's , St Roberts, St Mary and St Patrick's, Our Lady Star of the Sea and St Joseph of
Arimathea wishing to be confirmed as follows:
Monday 18th May 2015: Registration meeting in St Mary's Church Hall at 7pm. Candidates and Guardians to
attend - please bring copy of Baptismal Certificate with you and if possible your sponsor's details (this needs to be a
practising Catholic who has been confirmed).
Saturday 6th June 2015: Preparation Day in Our Lady Star of the Sea, Porthcawl from 10am - 4.30pm concluding
with Vigil Mass at 4.30pm
Saturday 20th June 2015: Preparation Day in Our Lady Star of the Sea, Porthcawl from 10am - 4.30pm concluding
with Vigil Mass at 4.30pm
CANDIDATES MUST ATTEND BOTH PREPARATION DAYS IF THEY WISH TO BE CONFIRMED.
CELEBRATION OF THE SACRAMENT WITH ARCHBISHOP GEORGE STACK:
FRIDAY 3RD JULY AT 7pm in St Mary's Catholic Church for candidates from St Mary's, St Joseph of Arimathea and
Our Lady Star of the Sea –
Practice session with candidates and sponsors at 6pm in St Mary's Church on Tuesday 30 June.
Sunday 5th July at 11am in Our Lady and St Patricks Catholic Church for candidates from St
Roberts and Our Lady and St Patricks - Practice session to be confirmed.
REGARDING TESCO VOUCHER SCHEME
Tesco have decided as part of their restructuring programme to stop supplying discounted vouchers with immediate
effect.
This means for us as a parish that after many years we will no longer be selling any vouchers. For those who pay by
standing order please can you cancel the payments and I will arrange refunds where necessary.
The scheme has been a huge success and helped pay a significant part of the debt on the new church.
Fr Bob would like to thank all those who have contributed over the years. Special thanks to Mr John Gordon who set
the scheme up originally and ran single handed for a considerable time.

EASTER DRAW - THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Draw. The winners were selected by computer
after the morning Mass last Sunday and a list is posted on the notice board in the narthe x. As all
the prizes were generously donated the amount raised was £450. Thank you all and a Happy
Easter.
PARKING ON THE FORECOURT
There are just six parking places on the forecourt at St. Mary’s; please leave them for those who are elderly or
disabled with mobility problems.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME 2014 - 2015
The next session for the children will be on Saturday 18th April at 10.30 a.m. in the hall. As their
First Holy Communion day gets closer the children need our prayer support; could you be a
PRAYER PARTNER by making a commitment to say a daily prayer for one of the children? If you
can please put your name in the space below one of the photographs of the children whi ch are on
display in the church.
Children, don’t forget to collect your footprints every week when you come to Sunday Mass.
