Welcome to Cavy!
Judging from the many comments I’ve heard this week we should have been at church
last Sunday. We attended the Anglican Church at Collingwood where we met people
who were there when we lived in Golden Bay in the 1960s — faithful witnesses. They
meet at 4:45 in the afternoon and the service is preceded by a cup of tea/coffee, and
some very nice baking. We shared communion in what seemed to me to be a blended
Anglican/Baptist service and we shared communion with those who’ve been friends for
over 50 years.
A reminder this week that winter is on it’s way; one of the beauties of living in this
part of the world is that we do experience real winters. Some among us are
experiencing winter with regards to their health; others with regard to their
experience. Maybe the lesson of winter is that faith is for the grey, cold seasons of our
spiritual journey and remind us that winter comes before spring.
In two weeks time we have the Carey College Principal Charles Hewlett and his wife
Joanne with us. On Saturday May 16th Charles will speak to the men at an early
breakfast. Please sign up today — it will be over in time for Saturday morning sports
activities.
And on 24th May it will be Pentecost Sunday, 7 Sundays after Resurrection Day. I hope
we’ll have a real celebration that Sunday.
