COMMENTS CHS Alumni News Volume No. 12, Issue No. 1 April 2015 A President’s Comments Dear fellow CHS Alumni Association members, In 1915 Clayton High School’s new brick school building was completed on the corner of Fayetteville and Second Streets. The auditorium and additional classroom building was added eleven years later. Today, one hundred years after the dedication of that first brick building, we have many things to celebrate. That building is now a part of the Town of Clayton administrative offices and The Clayton Center, where outstanding plays and concerts are held throughout the year. I’m sure many of you have enjoyed these renovated facilities. In 1963 the entire school was relocated to its current location at the corner of Fayetteville Street and Hwy 70. Since then, the campus has grown and now serves approximately 2100 students in grades 9-12. How many were in your graduating class? Imagine how many students have been through Clayton High School since its origin! We look forward to hearing from current principal Clint Eaves at our annual CHS Alumni Association meeting on May 4th at 7pm in the CHS Media Center. Won’t you come join us to learn more about CHS today and how you can help through participation in the CHS Alumni Association? THANK YOU for your continuing support of the Association! Sincerely, Gwen Allen Canady CHS Alumni Association President Class of 1973 Scholarship Committee President Gwen Allen Canady appointed Chairman Keith Blackley '91, Jane Daly Barnes '64, and Vicky Waddell Andrews '96 to our 2015 Scholarship Committee.
