Q -What is insurance?
A promise of compensation for specific potential future losses in exchange for a periodic payment.
Insurance is designed to protect the financial well-being of an individual, company or other entity in the
case of unexpected loss. Agreeing to the terms of an insurance policy creates a contract between the
insured and the insurer.
In exchange for payments from the insured (called premiums), the insurer agrees to pay the policy
holder a sum of money upon the occurrence of a specific event.
Q-What is RAP? I want to know more details about it?
A-Rural Authorized Person (RAP) is an individual who has a license to solicit or negotiate an Insurance
policy with a client on behalf of the insurance companies. To become a RAP VLE has to register for RAP
service and making payment of 350 towards licensing fee and examination. They also need to complete
the RAP training modules and pass in RAP exam conducted by NIELIT. Enrollment form can be filled on

Q- I am a licensed insurance agent for a company; can i give insurance service through CSC?
A- One needs to surrender the existing license by contacting the company for whom they are
authorized. Once license is surrendered VLE can enroll for RAP service. Enrollment form can be filled on

Q-Is there a fee for RAP registration
A- A fee of Rs 350 needs to be paid at the time of RAP registration. The fee is towards examination and
licensing. Exam fee is paid to NIELIT for conducting exam and license fee is paid to IRDA for license. If in
case VLE is not able to clear/appear for exam, they need to pay the fee to reappear.The Fee needs to be

Q- I have registered for RAP and have not received user name and password for training?
A- From the registration date it takes maximum 2 days to get the RAP username and password (after
verifying the details updated on RAP portal).
Q-I have completed my RAP training modules, when will i receive admit card and when will my exam
will be conducted?
A-As per the current process there are no Admit card which is sent to the candidate. RAP exam are
conducted in regular Intervals, To appear in the exam the VLE has to complete the RAP training (To
study the Modules Kindly visit http://164.100.40.23/rap/Home.aspx ) . VLE's will receive exam details
24-48 hours before the date of the exam via email. Information related to the exam will be shared on
the registered email id of the VLE's. Kindly check your email (including SPAM folder) on a regular basis.

Q-I have appeared for RAP exam, when will the result be declared?
A-Result is shared with VLE immediately once they submit the exam.
Q- I have passed my RAP exam, when will the insurance service be activated and when will i receive
iris/fingerprint biometric device?
A-After passing the exam, the result is shared with IRDA. The license will be issued once license is
generated by IRDA. The activation of VLE as RAP on the APNA CSC portal will happen in maximum 3 days
time after the license is issued.
The iris/fingerprint (biometric) devise and hard copy of license is either sent to state coordinator or by
other means. VLE should send all the below documents to CSC

Q- What are the passing marks in RAP exam?
The passing score for each examination is 35 percent. Candidates who pass the examination will receive
a score report that reads “pass”
Q- I want to give insurance service at my CSC center, can i register for RAP process and my
son/daughter/relative can give exam on my behalf and sell insurance policies?
A - No one else can appear for exam and sell insurance on your behalf. Only the registered OMT id
owner can give exam and sell the policies.
Q-Due to technical issues I was not able to give RAP exam, please conduct my exam again.
A- The login details are sent to VLE's email id 24-48 hours before the exam date , and the exam link
is sent to the VLE's email id just 15 mins before the scheduled exam time so that the technical
issues do not occur. If still the VLE faces technical problem on exam date, they should contact
the insurance team or the technical team timely to ensure they get time to complete exam.

Q Should i take any documents to the exam center?
A – The VLE can give exam from their CSC center. At the time of the exam the VLE should keep photo id
proof along with them. On the date of exam candidate needs to complete the following steps

Fill the login details.
Need to click his/her picture from the webcam.
Need to click picture of their photo id proof from the webcam.
Once all these steps are completed and verification is done the candidate will be allowed to start the
exam.
