He continued to live in Kronsweide until 1866 when he moved to Alexanderfeld in the Ivannenkovo area, which located about 6 miles from Andreasfeld near the Chortitza Colony. From Alexanderfeld he moved in 1874 to Sergeyevka in the Fuerstenland Colony where he was part owner of the Klaassen-Janzen implement factory and a foundry. In 1882 he moved to the Kuban Colony where he purchased a farm in Alexanderfeld. In 1889 he sold his farm in Alexanderfeld and moved to Romanovka, Ignatyevo Colony. (see Ketler, A., 1996). Could she be the Mrs. Wilhelm Schroeder whose death is in Mennonitische Rundschau 20 Nov 1907, p12? 1 Great-Great-Grandparents 16. Abraham Klaassen, b. 23 Sep 1790, d. 7 Dec 1851 in Kronsweide, Chortitza, South Russia. In the 1801 Chortitza Colony census he is listed with his stepfather Jacob Enns at Rosenthal #25. In the 1808 Chortitza census he is listed as a worker with the family of David Loewen #146851 at Burwalde #21 (B. H. Unruh, p. 276). In the 1814 census he is listed at Kronsweide #14 with his brother-in-law Johann Neufeld (B. H. Unruh, p. 279). Abraham lived in Kronsweide in 1814 (Schapansky, 1992, p. 30). Eleanor Schartner does not include sons Jacob and Abram. He married (1) _____ _____, Abt 1810, d. 1813. He married (2) Sara Kesler, 13 Aug 1813 in Kronsweide, Chortitza, South Russia. 17. Sara Kesler, b. 28 Jun 1793 in Kronsweide, Chortitza, South Russia, d. 18 Sep 1876 in Kronsweide, Chortitza, South Russia. After her first husband's death, she married four more times. One record calls her Susanna. Source listed birthplace as Alt-Kronswiede, Russia. 18. Abraham Neufeld, b. 15 May 1792 in Ellerwald, Elbing, Prussia, d. 14 Nov 1834 in Neu Kronsweide, Chortitza, South Russia, buried in South Russia. In the 1808 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed as a foster child with the family of Jacob Neufeld (b. Abt 1770) #159455 at Rosenthal #15 (B. H. Unruh, p. 263). In the 1814 Census he is listed in Kronsthal among the landless (B. H. Unruh, p. 280). In the Oct 1816 Census he is listed in Kronsweide among the landless. In the family Bible of his grandson Herman Klaassen (b. 6 Sep 1861) #77225 his birth date appears to have originally been written as 28 May 1792 and this was overwritten as 15 May 1792. It is possible that 28 May 1792 was his n. s. birth date in Prussia and that 15 May 1792 was his o. s. birth date. Herman and Katharina, Their Story, p. 6 and p. 220, states that he immigrated to Russia in 1810 with his older brother Herman from East Prussia. However, it seems probable that he actually immigrated prior to 1810. This source also gives his parents as Johann Neufeld (b. 1772) and Anna of Ellerwald, Prussia, who reported immigrated to Russia in 1790. One source says he was born in Ellerwald, Prussia, but the Journal of Herman Neufeld (b. 24 Jun 1860), V. 1, p. 3, says he was born in Kreutzen, Prussia. Using the volumes of journals kept in the Archives in Winnipeg Herman Neufeld and Agatha Schwartz are not (as previously listed) the parent of Abraham, but Johann Neufeld born 1772 and also listed in the autobiography Herman & Katharina Their Story, page 216. According to Peter Neudorf, who has translated over 60 letters written by Cornelius A. Neufeld beginning in 1890, the brothers Neufeld, sons of Johann migrated to Russia from East Prussia. He married Katharina Wiebe, 7 Dec 1813 in Einlage, Chortitza, South Russia. 19. Katharina Wiebe, b. 2 Sep 1792 in Einlage, Chortitza, South Russia, d. 21 Aug 1872 in Alexanderfeld, Ivannenkova, Ekaterinoslav, South Russia. She was an excellent seamstress. Herman and Katharina, Their Story, p. 220, incorrectly says her parents were Franz Wiebe (1779-1819) and Mrs. Wiebe (1779- 1818) of Krebsfelde, Prussia. However, she is listed as a daughter of Peter Wiebe in the 1795 and 1801 Censuses. One record says she married in Kronsweide. In the family Bible of her grandson Herman Klaassen (b. 6 Sep 1861) #77225 her birth date is given as 1 Sep 1792. 20. Heinrich Isaac Fast, b. 2 Jun 1800 in Neuteicherstadtfeld, Prussia. In the 1835 Molotschna Colony Census he is listed at Halbstadt #26. The census states that he transferred to the Chortitza Colony in 1836. He transferred to Kronsweide, Chortitza Colony in 1836 per Odessa Archive, Fonds 6, Inventory 1, File 4127. In the 1847 Chortitza Colony Heads of Households List he is listed in Kronsweide. He married Maria _____. 21. Maria _____, b. Abt 1806. 26. Wilhelm Lohrentz, b. 13 Jul 1813 in Insel Kueche, Marienwerder, Prussia. He is listed only in the 1835 census, as a son aged 21, from the first marriage. He married _____ _____. 27. _____ _____. 28. Wilhelm Peter Schroeder, b. 6 Apr 1783 in Podwitz, Culm, Prussia, d. 22 Jun 1849 in Elisabeththal, Molotschna, South Russia. Hoffnungsau I p. 88 says he was born in the village of "Potwetz" in the Kulmer Gegend. The 1835 Molotschna Census lists him at Elisabethal #14 and says that he came to Russia in 1822. The passport record says he came from Klein Lunau, Prussia. He married (1) Sara Gaede, 4 Mar 1810 in Klein Lunau, Culm, Prussia. He married (2) Elisabeth Ediger, 6 Jan 1836 in Elisabeththal, Molotschna, South Russia, Hoffnungsau I p. 88: she is called Wittwe Elisabeth Ediger, so I don't know if Ediger is her maiden name or her first husband's surname. 29. Sara Gaede, b. 4 Mar 1781 in Klein Lunau, Culm, Prussia, d. 14 Nov 1835 in South Russia. Hoffnungsau I p. 88 actually gives 1731 for her birth year but that's obviously wrong. 30. Abraham Heinrich Kasper, b. 6 Mar 1796 in Rehhof, Stuhm, Prussia. At the time of his baptism he resided at Montauerweide, Prussia. In the 1835 census, he is listed at Alexanderthal #18. The entry states that he transferred to Alexanderthal from Rudnerweide in 1822, which is confirmed by the entry for him at Rudnerweide #23. The entry states he migrated to Russia after the 1816 census. He married Helena _____. 31. Helena _____, b. Abt 1799. 3rd Great-Grandparents 32. Jacob Klassen, d. 1795 1797. He had been residing at Rosenthal #26 prior to his death (B. H. Unruh, p. 252). He married Aganetha _____. 33. Aganetha _____, b. Abt 1759. She married (1) Jacob Klassen. She married (2) Jacob Enns, 1795 1797 in Chortitza Colony, South Russia, b. Abt 1764, He appears to have migrated from Prussia to Russia between 1795 and 1797 as he is listed in the 1797 Chortitza Colony Census but 2 not in the 1795 Census. In In the 1801 Chortitza Census he is listed at Rosenthal #25 and in the 1802 census at Rosenthal #26. He moved to Burwalde #7 in 1803 (B. H. Unruh, p. 213). He is not listed in Rosenthal or in Burwalde in the 1808 Census. 34. Peter Kesler, b. Abt 1762, d. 1803 1806. He migrated from Lithuania to Kronsweide, Chortitza, S. Russia in 1789 (P. Rempel, p. 23; B. H. Unruh, p. 211). In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Kronsweide #17 (B. H. Unruh, p. 243). In the 1801 Census he is listed at Kronsweide #16. In the 1803 Chortitiza Colony Heads of Households List he is listed in Kronsweide (B. H. Unruh, p. 214). He appears to have died between 1803 and 1806 since his widow is listed in Kronsweide in the 1806 Census (P. Rempel, p. 23). Agnes Ketler incorrectly states that he died on the trek to Russia (1995). He married Sara Janzen. 35. Sara Janzen, b. Abt 1758. In the Oct 1816 Census she is listed at Kronsweide #14 in the household of her son-in-law Johann Neufeld. Her age is given as 40 in the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census, which is apparently incorrect. Her first name is incorrectly given as Katharina in the 1806 Census (P. Rempel, p. 23), but her name is given as Sara in the 1795, 1801, 1814, and Oct 1816 Censuses. 36. Johann Neufeld, b. Abt 1768, d. Bef 1801. In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Rosenthal #20 with Diedrich Wiebe (B. H. Unruh, p. 238). He exchanged his homestead in Rosenthal for Wilhelm Rempel's (b. 1760) #155957 homestead in Einlage sometime between 1797 and 1801 (B. H. Unruh, p. 251). He is not listed in either Rosenthal or Einlage in the 1797 Census. He had died by Sep 1801 as his widow is shown as being married to Peter Klassen in the 1801 Census. Previously Johann's sons Herman and Abraham were connected to a Herman Neufeld, however, diaries and correspondance bears out the facts that these sons belong to Johann Neufeld. He married Anna Hempel, 28 May 1787 in Danzig-Stadtgebiet, Poland. 37. Anna Hempel, b. 9 Sep 1761 in Emaus, Danzig, Prussia, d. 11 Apr 1810 in Chortitza, Chortitza, South Russia. She married Johann Neufeld on 28 May 1787 and migrated with him to Russia (see Unruh, p. 296). One record says she was born in Schidlitz, Danzig, Prussia. Emaus was also the name of the church congregation. This could be an explanation of the seemingly contradictory info in BH Unruh's book. She married (1) Johann Neufeld, 28 May 1787 in Danzig-Stadtgebiet, Poland. She married (2) Peter Klassen, b. Abt 1770, d. 1803 1808, In the 1801 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Einlage #35. He had died by 1808 as his widow is listed in the 1808 Chortitza Colony Census among the landless in Einlage (B. H. Unruh, p. 261). 38. Peter Wiebe, b. Abt 1750 in Prussia, d. Abt 1796 in Einlage, Chortitza, South Russia. He migrated from Prussia to Einlage, Chortitza, S. Russia in 1789 (P. Rempel, p. 15). In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Einlage #37 (B. H. Unruh, p. 240). He had died by 1797 since his wife is listed as a widow in Einlage in the 1797 Census (P. Rempel, p. 15). He married Maria Siemens, in Ladekopp, Gross Werder, Prussia. 39. Maria Siemens, b. Abt 1750. She married (1) Peter Wiebe, in Ladekopp, Gross Werder, Prussia. She married (2) Peter Tilitzky, Bef 1801, b. Abt 1764 in Petershagenfeld, Gross Werder, Prussia, He was living in Klein Mausdorf, Prussia at the time of his baptism in 1786. He migrated from Petershagen, Prussia to the Chortitza Colony, S. Russia by 1793 (B. H. Unruh, p. 260) and is listed in Neuenburg in the 1793 Chortitza Colony Heads of Households List (B. H. Unruh, p. 211). In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Neuenburg #15 (B. H. Unruh, p. 240) and in the 1797 Census he is listed in Neuenburg (P. Rempel, p. 28). By 1801 he moved to Einlage where he is listed in the 1801 Census at Einlage #47 and in the 1808 Census at Einlage #31 (B. H. Unruh, p. 260). In the Oct 1816 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Einlage #24. 40. Isaac Daniel Fast, b. Abt 1773, d. 1834 in Halbstadt, Molotschna, South Russia. The Ladekopp Mennonite Church Records state that he was living in Stadtfelde, Prussia at the time of his marriage to Helena Epp. He migrated from Prussia to Russia in 1803 and appears to have settled in Halbstadt, Molotschna Colony by 21 Jun 1804 (B. H. Unruh, p. 305, 339; P. Rempel, p. 69). In the 1806 and 1808 Molotschna Colony Censuses he is listed at Halbstadt #8 (B. H. Unruh, p. 305). The 1808 Census says that he came from Neuteicher Stadtfeld, Prussia. In the 1803 migration list he is said to have come from Neuteicherhinterfeld, Prussia (B. H. Unruh, p. 339). He was a weaver in 1803, but was a taylor in 1808 (B. H. Unruh, p. 305, 339). The 1835 Census entry for Halbstadt #26 says he came to Russia in 1803 and died in 1834. He and Helena Epp probably had a second son Isaac who also died young. He married (1) Helena Epp, 14 Jun 1796 in Prussia. He married (2) Helena _____, b. Abt 1785. 41. Helena Epp, b. Abt 1773, d. 1803 1806. 52. Johann Heinrich Lohrentz, b. 5 Nov 1785 in Grossweide, Marienwerder, Prussia, d. Abt 1838 in Molotschna Colony, South Russia. These were born either in Bad Durkheim or Grethern, Germany. It is probable that these are not children of this Johan Lohrentz. He married (1) Catharina Unrau, 12 Oct 1809 in Gutsch, Marienwerder, Prussia. He married (2) Maria Penner, 1827 1830 in South Russia, b. Abt 2 Feb 1810 in Prussia, d. 8 May 1886 in Henderson, Nebraska, Her death notice in the Mennonitische Rundschau gives her age as 76 years, 3 months, 6 days, implying that her birth date was ca 2 Feb 1810. It also states that she was formerly of Franzthal, S. Russia. 53. Catharina Unrau, b. 2 May 1790 in Gutsch, Marienwerder, Prussia, d. Abt 1827 in Molotschna Colony, South Russia. She resided in Gutsch, Marienwerder, Prussia at the time of her baptism. 56. Peter Schroeder, b. 1740 in Prussia. All of the children listed were children of a Peter Schroeder from the Podwitz area of Prussia. We are assuming that they are all brothers and sister, but this needs to be confirmed. In the 1793 Chortitza Colony List of Heads of Households he is listed in Kronsweide (B. H. Unruh, p. 211). In the 1795 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Kronsweide #26 in the household of his son-in-law Isaac Heinrichs (B. H. Unruh, p. 243).
