Meet the âNew Global Faceâ of Physical Activity!
Meet the “New Global Face” of 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Room CNR 1000 Tackling the Inactivity Pandemic: Emory’s Growing Physical Activity Capacity 102 Steps Towards a More Active World Speaker: Michael Pratt, MD, MSPE, MPH | Steering Committee Member for the Lancet Physical Activity Observatory | Professor, Department of Global Health and Emory Global Diabetes Research Center Dr. Pratt will introduce The Lancet’s Physical Activity Observatory reports on the status of physical activity surveillance, research and policy activities in the 102 countries that account for 75% of the global population, and 98% of the world’s physical activity research publications. The report includes 102 Country Cards that provide data on mortality attributable to physical inactivity, the prevalence of adults participating in physical activity sufficient to promote health, research productivity, and national public health policy for physical activity Physical Activity! Emory University is an emerging hub for Physical Activity research. On 24 April 2015, Drs. Michael Pratt and R. L. Their talks will be followed by the first meeting of the Emory Physical Activity Research Working group (EPARG), open to anyone in the Emory Community interested in physical activity research, measurement, evaluation and policy for both US and global audiences. www.lancetphysicalactivityobservatory.com Integrating Physical Activity Promotion in Health Care Settings Globally: The Exercise is Medicine Global Research and Collaboration Center (EIMGRCC) the EIM-CRCC activities to support large-scale implementation of the EIM Solution across different populations, settings and health care systems, a complex process that requires an academic hub to perform the necessary applied research and evaluation, coordinate efforts and provide scientific direction to the initiative. Felipe Lobelo, MD, PhD, FAHA | Associate Professor, Hubert Department of Global Health | Director, EIM GRCC 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Room CNR 2001 The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine has helped build local networks to support the systematic inclusion of physical activity in health care in the US and more than 40 countries in 5 continents via the “EIM Solution”, an evidence-based approach to assessing patients, prescribing appropriate PA and developing community-based PA resources linked to health services and public awareness. Dr. Lobelo will describe Launch of the New Emory Physical Activity Research Working Group Open to members of the Emory Community (Woodruff, Global Health Institute, ACTSI, Medicine, Nursing, law/ health policy)that have an interest in Physical activity research, measurement, evaluation and policy for Friday, April 24 Rollins School of Public Health Emory University | Atlanta, USA Lunch will be provided!
