Class Content
Targeted for handler/dog teams that are
interested in or have started agility
completion. Handlers will be challenged
with analyzing how to best navigate a
course and best methods to handle
sequences. Handlers should have a
good working relationship with their
dog. The dogs should have a good
understanding of obstacle requirement.
The focus will be on teaching the
foundation skills for correct and safe
obstacle performance. Dogs will be on
leash much of the time. The team
(handler and dog) will be introduced to
all agility obstacles set at the lowest and
safest levels. Dogs will learn basic tools
needed for successful training in agility
such as stay, come, target, & go.
Continuing the knowledge and
developmental skills on all the
equipment. Equipment will be raised to
the next safest level. Most work will be
done off leash and various obstacle
combinations will be introduced.
This introduction to tracking class takes
the beginner from no tracking
experience to certification ready in eight
weeks! The dogs should have a buckle
collar and 6 foot leash. Also bring
LOTS of yummy treats for the first night
of class!
From the Ground Up: The sport of
agility can be broken into a set of core
behaviors both by handler & dog alike.
Combining these core skills together
create successful agility teams. This
class will focus on teaching many of the
core behaviors, many of which do not
include agility equipment. Good for
puppies & dogs new to agility, this class
will primarily focus on foundation skills
& teach obstacle behavior as necessary.
