1st ENFiD ESSAY WRITING CONTEST
Theme: “Ako Ay Filipino sa Europa – Ganito Ako Ngayon, Paano Ako Bukas?”
Purpose: Examine the Role of Euro-Pinoy in Europe’s Multi-cultural Environment. The contest
is in connection with the upcoming 2nd European Regional Conference of Filipinos in Europe, to
be held in Malta in Sardinia, Italy, on July 31 to August 2.
Topics: Under the general theme, provide an entry on one of the following topics:

My cultural life before and after being an Overseas Filipino
My profession, work habits/ethics before and after working in Europe
How much do I know about Europe (or my adopted country)
Am I a better Individual as Euro-Pinoy (i.e., living, studying and working in Europe)

Contest is open to all Filipino s in Europe regardless of age.
Entry should be 600-800 words long!
Personal and contact information should be provided on a separate page.
Submit the essay in one of the following file types: Word (.doc, or docx). Feel free to
use images if you have permission.
All entries must be original and content has not been published before. References
and source of quotes should be cited or footnoted.
The essays must be written in English, Taglish, or Pilipino.
By submitting an entry to the contest, you agree to the terms and conditions and accept
the decision of the judges as final.
Only one entry per candidate is allowed. ENFiD Country Representatives and members
of the Board of Directors are not allowed to participate.
There is NO ENTRY FEE!
Submitting Entries:

Entries are to be submitted to the ENFiD-Country Reps, see ENFiD-Country Reps below
in separate sheet. To ensure your entries are received, COPY ENFiD Media/Publicity

Entries from countries with no ENFiD-Country Reps are to be submitted to ENFiD
Media/Publicity ([email protected] cc: [email protected])
Judging:
•
Each Country Rep selects the best 5 and sends to ENFiD Media/Publicity. Non-country
rep entries will be selected by the ENFiD Media/Publicity.
•
All entries that made the first cut will be sent to ALL ENFiD-Country Rep for FINAL
selection. The personal information of the entrants will not be disclosed to the judges.
•
Selection criteria will be based on: (a) Clarity and cohesiveness of message according to
chosen topic and (b) Creativity of composition.
•
ENFiD reserves the right to use/ publish winning essays for promotional purposes
Deadline: Submissions are accepted from April 1 - June 15, 2015. The finalists will be notified
by email by July 15, 2015.
Awards:

All winners will receive an ENFiD Award Plaque.
Winning entries become property of ENFiD and will be published in Roots&Wings, the
Filipino e-magazine in Europe and in ENFiD website at www.enfid.org.
Awarding will take place in Malta, July 31, 2015. Awards of winners unable to be in
Malta maybe claimed by a relative or a kababayan present at the conference.
