Carrara Cool and Timeless
New Natural Stone Designs from Surface
Timeless and beautiful, natural stone has been a popular material for interior and
exterior surfaces for thousands of years. New this summer, Surface, the leading
retailer of tiles, stone and wood reveals four new designs which successfully
transform this ancient material into aspirational, contemporary interior solutions.
Carefully selected marble, limestone and sandstone are enhanced by the very latest
in technological processes and designs. The resulting products: Chevron, Cuscini,
Mix and Match and Romboo are luxurious, timeless and entirely unique.
Chevron
Designed by Pietro Lissoni, Chevron was inspired by the idea of reproducing the
eponymous fabric in stone. Extremely flexible, it can be used for walls and floors
alike. It is perfect for statement decorative panels while its natural grip and deckinglike ridges makes it practical as well as beautiful for floors. The design is offered in
White Carrara, Crema d’Orcia, Pietra d’Avola and Silk Georgette.
Cuscini
Cuscini is a modern reinterpretation of marble but with a nod to the past. It combines
the solidity of stone with the softness of shapes. The result is highly original marble
tiles with a button-back cushion-like visual appeal. The solid, sculptural and
incredibly light surface design is offered exclusively in white carrara marble.
Mix and Match
The Milanese designer, Franz Siccardi, has played with the colours that come from
two contrasting stones: Crema d’Orcia and Pietra d’Avola. The result is Mix and
Match, a new surface made of 30cm wide sheets of various lengths. The free
arrangement and laying of the sheets makes for an interesting and customised
patchwork effect.

Romboo
Romboo is a creative and environmentally-friendly design since it is composed using
stone offcuts that would otherwise be wasted. A stunning pattern in its own right, it
uses rhombus-shaped tiles which form a three-dimensional hexagonal effect which is
brought dramatically to life when bathed in light. The offcuts are from the existing
Bamboo design with gentle ridges, making Romboo ideal for all surfaces including
wet areas that require grip underfoot.
It is offered in the four stones of White Carrara, Crema d’Orcia, Pietra d’Avola and
Silk Georgette.
